We’re on the search for a Sales Associate that will help lead our civic minded, pop culture driven brand. As a BoxLunch Sales Associate, you'll be a huge part of our success by providing the best customer service, ensuring that fellow fans can get their hands on the merch they love. You'll share your fandom knowledge, stock and replenish products, and help merchandise the store in a visually appealing way, all while being hyper-focused on the in-store experience.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide an amazing shopping experience that will encourage customers to return. They'll be impressed by your product knowledge, customer experience skills, and use of the Force.
- Cover the sales floor zone and ensure that assigned areas are up to visual standards.
- Work the register - you'll use your fandom knowledge to process sales transactions and drive add-on sales using additional benefits such as BOPIS and curbside pickup.
- Assist with planogram changes including store map, wall, fixture, & merchandising mix.
- Let your voice be heard! You'll communicate fashion trend information to management and respective HQ partners.
- While we welcome wizards, we don't like it when spells are stolen. You'll work with Store Management to ensure there's no misuse of spells and wizardry around theft.
- Support the maintenance of the mother ship; you'll help keep the stock room organized and the store tidy.
- Smells like Team Spirit – you love communicating and working as a team to get the job done.
- Any other activities as assigned by your Store Leader.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working in a retail environment. If you’re passionate about philanthropy & all things pop culture, you're in the right place!
- Superpowers in providing customer service and selling.
- You'll have to be at least 18 years of age to join the fandom force.
- Avenger-like collaboration and communication skills.
- The usual retail stuff (with or without reasonable accommodation): able to navigate your way around the store, merchandise product utilizing approved store equipment, and pack and unpack boxes of awesome merch that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
Please note the pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting, but other factors such as an individual’s education, location, meeting the minimum job requirements for the role, training and experience, will determine the final salary for potential new hires.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Sales Jobs at Hot Topic Jobs
Frame your resume around retail KPIs
Hot Topic evaluates Sales candidates on measurable outcomes, not just duties. Quantify conversion rates, units per transaction, or sell-through percentages from previous retail or wholesale roles to give hiring managers concrete evidence of your impact.
Target corporate sales roles over store positions
Visa sponsorship in retail tends to concentrate at the corporate level. Focus your search on Hot Topic's wholesale, account management, or B2B sales roles, where the employer has more precedent and infrastructure for running an employment-based petition.
Understand which visa category fits your background
Hot Topic has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for Sales roles. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. EB-3 is accessible with a bachelor's degree, making it the more common path for most Sales professionals targeting fashion retail employers.
Prepare for the PERM labor certification timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at Hot Topic requires PERM, a DOL-administered process where the employer advertises your role to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. This process runs six months or longer, so align your offer negotiation timeline with that reality.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active openings
Pinpointing which Sales roles at Hot Topic are open and sponsorship-eligible takes targeted searching. Use Migrate Mate to filter Hot Topic listings by role type and visa sponsorship history, so you focus your applications on positions with real immigration potential.
Raise sponsorship clearly but after the offer stage
In fashion retail hiring, bringing up visa sponsorship before you have demonstrated value tends to stall conversations. Establish fit during interviews, then raise your immigration needs once the employer signals intent to hire, giving HR time to engage immigration counsel.

Find Sales at Hot Topic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hot Topic sponsor H-1B visas for Sales?
Hot Topic's documented visa sponsorship for Sales roles has been in the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based immigrant categories, not H-1B. H-1B applies to specialty occupations requiring a specific bachelor's degree, which is a difficult fit for most retail sales positions. If you're targeting Hot Topic, an immigrant visa pathway is the more realistic route to explore with an immigration attorney.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales roles at Hot Topic?
Hot Topic has used EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for Sales positions. EB-3 is the more accessible option for candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant experience. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or demonstrated exceptional ability in the field. Both categories go through the PERM labor certification process before USCIS adjudicates the petition.
What qualifications does Hot Topic look for in Sales candidates seeking sponsorship?
Hot Topic's Sales roles typically call for experience in retail, wholesale, or consumer goods sales, with a track record of meeting revenue or volume targets. For sponsorship purposes, a bachelor's degree strengthens your EB-3 eligibility. Backgrounds in fashion, pop culture merchandise, or specialty retail are particularly relevant given the company's brand positioning in those categories.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Hot Topic?
Browse open Sales positions at Hot Topic filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with an established immigration track record. When you apply, tailor your materials to Hot Topic's retail environment, emphasizing measurable sales outcomes and any experience with youth, lifestyle, or entertainment-adjacent merchandise. Follow up with the recruiting team to confirm sponsorship is on the table before advancing through the process.
How do I plan my timeline if Hot Topic agrees to sponsor my Sales role?
Employment-based sponsorship through PERM, EB-2, or EB-3 typically runs 12 to 24 months or longer from initiation to Green Card approval, depending on your country of birth and USCIS processing times. The DOL PERM audit risk alone can add months. Confirm with your employer early whether they'll file for concurrent adjustment of status if you're already in the U.S., which lets you work while the case is pending.
