Tailor Your Resume to Staffing Law
Jobot's legal team operates inside a staffing and recruiting business, so highlight experience with employment contracts, contingent workforce compliance, or state labor law. A general litigation background reads weaker than demonstrated in-house or employment law exposure.
Confirm Sponsorship Before Applying
Jobot sponsors H-1B and TN visas, but availability varies by role and timing. Reach out to their recruiting team early to confirm the specific Assistant Counsel opening includes sponsorship, rather than assuming all legal roles qualify automatically.
Prepare Your Bar Admission Documentation Early
Assistant Counsel roles require active bar admission in at least one U.S. state. Gather your bar certificates and good standing letters before interviewing so you're not scrambling during offer negotiations or H-1B petition preparation.
Understand How TN Fits Legal Roles
Canadian and Mexican attorneys can pursue TN status under the Lawyers category without waiting for H-1B cap season. If you hold a law degree and bar admission, confirm with Jobot's HR whether TN is on the table for your start date.
Time Your OPT Application Around Jobot's Hiring Cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS requires your employment to fall within your authorized field. A legal role at a staffing firm qualifies, but your OPT end date and any STEM extension timeline need to align with Jobot's typical onboarding window.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsored Openings
Jobot lists Assistant Counsel roles across multiple locations and practice focuses simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Jobot positions that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to the right openings from the start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Assistant Counsels?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for legal roles including Assistant Counsel positions. Because Jobot operates as a staffing and recruiting firm, its legal team handles employment contracts, compliance, and labor matters that fit the H-1B specialty occupation standard for attorneys. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter for the specific opening you're targeting, as not every posting may include it.
Which visa types are commonly used for Assistant Counsel roles at Jobot?
H-1B is the most common visa type for Assistant Counsel roles at Jobot. Attorneys from Canada or Mexico may also qualify under TN visa status in the Lawyers category, which has no annual cap and can be arranged faster than H-1B. F-1 OPT is available for recent law school graduates, provided the role aligns with your authorized field of study.
What qualifications and experience does Jobot expect for Assistant Counsel roles?
Jobot typically looks for a J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state. Experience in employment law, contract drafting, or labor compliance is a strong fit given Jobot's staffing business model. Prior in-house experience or exposure to high-volume contract review can strengthen your candidacy over a purely litigation-focused background.
How do I apply for Assistant Counsel jobs at Jobot?
Browse open Assistant Counsel positions at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles that include visa sponsorship so you're not applying blind. Once you identify a relevant posting, apply directly and be upfront about your visa situation early in the screening call. Jobot's recruiters are experienced with sponsorship conversations and will confirm eligibility before moving you forward in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Jobot role?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so coordinate your job search and offer timeline accordingly. If you're already in valid H-1B status with another employer, Jobot can file an H-1B transfer and you can start sooner without waiting for the next cap cycle. USCIS premium processing is available if you need a faster decision.
