Document Equipment Certifications Before Applying
Healthcare systems like MyMichigan Health require Service Technicians to demonstrate compliance with biomedical, HVAC, or facilities standards. Gather certifications such as CBET, EPA 608, or manufacturer credentials before your first interview so HR can assess sponsorship viability quickly.
Target Open Requisitions Aligned to Your Specialty
MyMichigan Health posts Service Technician roles across biomedical, facilities, and imaging disciplines. Applying to a requisition that maps directly to your technical background strengthens the specialty occupation argument your employer will need to make in the H-1B petition.
Clarify Sponsorship Eligibility During the Offer Stage
Before signing an offer, confirm which visa type the hiring team intends to sponsor. For TN status, you can often begin work within days of crossing the border. For H-1B, cap-subject filings require USCIS lottery registration in March, so timing the offer around that window matters.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Listings
Search Migrate Mate to find active Service Technician openings at MyMichigan Health filtered by visa type. This saves time compared to manually cross-referencing DOL LCA disclosure data to confirm which postings are tied to active sponsorship filings.
Align Your Degree Field to the Job Description
USCIS scrutinizes whether a Service Technician role qualifies as a specialty occupation. A degree in biomedical engineering, electronics technology, or a directly related field strengthens the petition considerably compared to a general science or unrelated background.
Ask HR About F-1 OPT Conversion Timelines Early
If you are on F-1 OPT, confirm whether MyMichigan Health will file an H-1B petition before your OPT expires. Cap-gap protection only applies if your OPT is valid on April 1 when the fiscal year begins, so start this conversation at least nine months before your EAD end date.

Find Service Technician at MyMichigan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Service Technicians?
Yes, MyMichigan Health has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Service Technician roles across its healthcare network. Because H-1B sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, your application is strongest when your degree field aligns directly with the technical discipline of the role, such as biomedical engineering or electronics technology.
How do I apply for Service Technician jobs at MyMichigan Health?
You can browse and apply for Service Technician positions at MyMichigan Health through Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsorship-eligible listings and lets you filter by visa type. Applications typically require an updated resume, relevant certifications, and documentation of any current visa status so the recruiting team can assess sponsorship options from the start.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Service Technician hires?
MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Service Technician roles. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations and can be processed at the border without a USCIS petition. H-1B is the most common long-term path and requires an approved Labor Condition Application from the DOL before filing.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Service Technician roles?
MyMichigan Health typically expects a combination of a relevant technical degree and hands-on experience servicing clinical or facilities equipment. Certifications such as CBET for biomedical technicians or EPA 608 for HVAC-related work strengthen your candidacy. Roles in imaging or laboratory equipment often require manufacturer-specific training that USCIS also looks for when evaluating specialty occupation status.
How do I manage the timeline between a Service Technician offer and my H-1B start date?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions filed in April have an October 1 start date, creating a gap of several months. If you are on F-1 OPT, cap-gap provisions may let you keep working through that period if your OPT is still valid on April 1. Discuss this timeline with your HR contact immediately after receiving an offer so the DOL LCA filing can begin without delay.
