Verify Your NCLEX and State Licensure First
Ohio requires an active RN license before any employer can extend an offer. Complete NCLEX-RN and apply for Ohio licensure early, delays here stall your entire timeline, including any visa filing Otterbein initiates on your behalf.
Target Otterbein's Student Health Services Directly
Otterbein's RN openings sit within its student health and wellness operation, not a hospital system. Search for roles under student affairs or campus health when browsing their careers portal, since titles and departments differ from clinical settings.
Ask HR Explicitly About H-1B Filing Timelines
University employers often file H-1B petitions on a cap-subject basis, meaning USCIS lottery registration opens each March for an October 1 start. Confirm during the offer stage whether Otterbein plans a standard or premium processing filing so you can plan accordingly.
Document Clinical Hours for TN Visa Eligibility
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, the TN visa is a faster path for RN roles. You'll need to show USCIS a valid nursing license and proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship, no employer petition or lottery required.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Otterbein RN Openings
Browsing all Otterbein postings manually misses visa-relevant context. Use Migrate Mate to filter Registered Nurse roles at Otterbein by the visa types they sponsor, so you're only applying where your status is a fit.

Find Registered Nurse at Otterbein University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Otterbein University sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Otterbein University has sponsored H-1B visas for Registered Nurse roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, the timing of your offer matters. Sponsorship typically requires a full-time role, and Otterbein would need to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Otterbein University?
Applications go through Otterbein's official careers portal. Look for postings under student health, wellness services, or campus health departments rather than clinical or medical categories. You can also browse current Registered Nurse openings at Otterbein filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to confirm your visa type is supported before applying.
Which visa types does Otterbein University commonly use for Registered Nurse roles?
Otterbein has worked with H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT visa types for nursing and health-related positions. The H-1B is the most common long-term path. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican citizens without a lottery. J-1 is possible for exchange visitor programs. F-1 OPT works for recent nursing graduates still within their post-completion authorization window.
What qualifications does Otterbein University expect for Registered Nurse positions?
You'll need an active Ohio RN license, NCLEX-RN passage, and typically at least one to two years of clinical experience. Campus health settings favor nurses with experience in primary care, triage, or outpatient environments over acute hospital specialties. Some postings require CPR certification and familiarity with electronic health records systems used in ambulatory care settings.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when hired as an RN at Otterbein?
For H-1B sponsorship, expect the process to take six months to over a year, depending on the lottery outcome and whether Otterbein uses premium processing. TN visa processing is significantly faster, often resolved at a port of entry or within weeks. J-1 and OPT timelines depend on your program dates. Start conversations with HR about sponsorship intent as early in the offer process as possible.
