Align Your Credentials to Clinical Physics Standards
Quest Diagnostics operates under strict regulatory frameworks, so certifications like ABR or ABMP carry real weight. Verify your credentials are recognized by U.S. professional bodies before applying, since hiring managers in clinical diagnostics routinely screen for this.
Target Roles Tied to Diagnostic Imaging Functions
Physics openings at Quest Diagnostics cluster around imaging physics, radiation safety, and quality assurance in laboratory settings. Search by these functional areas rather than generic Physics titles to find postings where H-1B sponsorship has historically been part of the hiring package.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Sponsorship-Confirmed Openings
Not every Physics posting at Quest Diagnostics explicitly mentions sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship roles so you focus your applications on positions where the company has already committed to supporting international candidates.
Understand When PERM Filing Applies to Your Role
For Physics positions requiring a master's or doctorate, Quest Diagnostics often pursues EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL's PERM process. Ask during the offer stage whether your role is classified at a level that supports this pathway alongside an initial H-1B.
Time Your Application Around the H-1B Cap Window
Cap-subject H-1B registrations open in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate your remaining authorized work period against that timeline and confirm with your employer whether a cap-exempt or cap-subject petition applies to your specific role at Quest Diagnostics.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Justification for Physics
USCIS scrutinizes whether a Physics role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Document how your position directly applies theoretical or applied physics principles to diagnostic laboratory outcomes, since this specificity strengthens the H-1B petition and reduces RFE risk.

Find Physics at Quest Diagnostics JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Physics roles?
Yes. Quest Diagnostics has a demonstrated history of filing H-1B petitions for Physics professionals in technical and clinical roles. Positions in areas like imaging physics, radiation safety, and laboratory science are the most likely candidates for sponsorship. Confirm sponsorship intent during the interview process, as not every Physics posting is automatically eligible.
How do I apply for Physics jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
Applications go through Quest Diagnostics' careers portal. Search using functional terms like medical physics, imaging physics, or radiation safety rather than broad Physics keywords to surface the most relevant postings. Migrate Mate also lists verified Physics openings at Quest Diagnostics where visa sponsorship has been confirmed, which can help you prioritize your applications.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Physics positions?
Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for Physics roles. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates currently completing U.S. degree programs. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM process is available for qualifying Physics positions that require advanced degrees.
What qualifications does Quest Diagnostics expect for Physics roles?
Most Physics positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in physics or a closely related field, with master's or doctoral degrees expected for clinical or research-oriented roles. Board certification from bodies like the American Board of Radiology carries significant weight for medical physics positions. Hands-on experience with diagnostic imaging equipment, radiation safety protocols, or laboratory instrumentation strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving an offer for a Physics role at Quest Diagnostics?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date relative to the H-1B cap timeline. Cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so an offer received in late summer may require bridging your status. Work with Quest Diagnostics' immigration counsel early in the offer stage to identify whether your position qualifies as cap-exempt, which would allow filing at any point in the year.
