EED Out-of-School Time (OST) Instructional Aide (C10)
The OST Instructional Aide assists in the direct delivery of after-school programming for TK–5 students. The primary objective of this role is to support student learning and development through academic enrichment, skill-building activities, and structured supervision aligned with program and school-day goals.
Key Responsibilities & Role Details
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist certificated and OST staff in implementing lesson plans and enrichment activities, including supporting small groups and reviewing student work
- Supervise and engage students in indoor and outdoor activities, games, and structured learning experiences
- Support the development of positive student behaviors, habits, and social skills using non-punitive strategies
- Assist students in using instructional materials, equipment, and technology in appropriate learning settings
- Monitor assigned areas, including classrooms and play spaces, to ensure safety and adherence to program expectations
- Prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials, displays, and activity spaces
- Maintain attendance and other program records; support basic clerical requirements as needed to maintain compliance with District, City, or State requests
- Assist with snack distribution and supervise students during meal/snack times
- Accompany and supervise students on field trips and during off-site activities
- Support communication with staff and families, including participation in conferences or program events as needed
- Operate instructional equipment and assist with setup/cleanup of program spaces
- Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent AND passed District Instructional Aide Exam; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent AND passed CBEST; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent AND 48 college units (official transcripts required); OR
- Associate's degree or higher
- Six units of Early Childhood Education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with school-age children (ages 5–12) preferred
- Bilingual (e.g., Cantonese or Spanish) skills desirable
