The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for 1.0 FTE Limited Term Contract Academic Student Success Coach at Hintgen Elementary School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Projected start date: August 11, 2026
Wisconsin certification in any subject area at the appropriate developmental/grade level for the assigned building is required. Preferred 1400 (math) certification or math minor or willingness to obtain math certification. Preferred 1316 (reading specialist) certification or enrolled in a program within six months and obtained certification in two years.
Candidates should have a strong knowledge around curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies to support teachers in a Title I school. Preference will be for a candidate who has Responsive Classroom experience, Catalyst experience, and a strong Equity background with core practices around co-planning & co-teaching. Preference will also be given to a candidate who has coaching experience and working with teachers to impact student achievement.
The Student Success Coach (SSC) forms a partnership with teachers and administrators for the purpose of improvement of student outcomes and implementation of transformational instructional practices, including effective social-emotional and behavior practices, at the classroom and district levels. The SSC supports classroom teachers, grade level teams, specialists and building and district leadership through consulting, planning, modeling, teaching, and visioning to create opportunities so that each student can meet their highest potential. The SSC promotes best practice and reflection in a role that includes tenets of student-centered coaching and coaching for equity. The SSC plays a further, critical role in evaluating student needs, in closing achievement gaps by providing direct instruction with students, to monitor student progress and success and work with other stakeholders to address any barriers to learning. Partnering with district and school level leaders, the SSC develops and implements structures and procedures to support systemic improvement.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
- Prefer five (5) years of distinguished classroom teaching experience.
- Exceptional familiarity with the design and expectations of the Wisconsin State Standards, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, and Social Emotional Learning Competencies.
- Exceptional knowledge of current pedagogical approaches to teaching/learning.
- Exemplary ability to develop and model instructional practices and strategies as well as classroom management techniques and routines.
- Superior ability and demonstration to provide meaningful staff development.
- Ability to use technology in the Google environment and have familiarity with Canvas, Skyward, and eduCLIMBER.
- Exceptional ability to manage a flexible schedule, be self-directed, and have a work history of eliciting high levels of discretionary effort.
- Professional, non-judgemental disposition with a work history of creating positive, collaborative relationships and culture within an organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to coordinate and manage multiple work responsibilities.
