About Sun River Health
Sun River Health has a rich history of providing quality, affordable health care to communities in need. Founded in the early 1970s by four African American women in Peekskill, New York, the organization was established to address the lack of accessible health services in their community. With the help of a small federal grant, the first Sun River Health site opened its doors in 1975. Over the years, Sun River Health has grown into a comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system with over 45 locations, serving more than 250,000 patients across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. Our exceptional primary care practitioners, specialists and support staff are dedicated to delivering high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay. In December 2018, Sun River Health expanded its reach by merging with Brightpoint Health, an FQHC network offering integrated medical, behavioral and social support services in New York City. This merger allowed us to enhance our services and continue our mission under the unified name of Sun River Health.

Target clinical and patient-facing roles
Sun River Health's sponsorship activity is concentrated in healthcare delivery. Physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals in direct patient care roles are the most likely candidates for Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways.
Understand the Green Card timeline upfront
Sun River Health sponsors permanent residency, not temporary work visas. That process takes years, not months. Go in with realistic expectations and ask recruiters early whether a role is eligible for employer-sponsored Green Card support before investing time in the process.
Highlight community health experience in your application
Sun River Health's mission centers on underserved and low-income communities. Candidates with federally qualified health center experience, community clinic backgrounds, or a demonstrated commitment to health equity will stand out compared to applicants from traditional hospital settings.
Ask specifically about OPT and CPT eligibility during recruitment
Sun River Health does work with F-1 students on OPT and CPT, which makes it accessible for recent graduates in qualifying healthcare fields. Confirm early whether a specific role and site location supports your current immigration status and authorized period.
Research open roles by sponsorship type before applying
Not every Sun River Health position will come with Green Card sponsorship. Filter job listings by verified sponsorship history so you only pursue roles aligned with your visa needs. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history.
Prepare for a mission-driven interview process
Sun River Health consistently hires for cultural fit alongside clinical credentials. Interviewers will assess your understanding of and commitment to community health. Research the organization's patient population and service model before your first conversation with their recruiting team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sun River Health sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, Sun River Health does not have a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas. Their sponsorship activity is focused on permanent residency through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. If you currently hold or need H-1B status, it's worth confirming directly with their HR team whether any current openings can accommodate that classification.
What visa types does Sun River Health sponsor?
Sun River Health sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for qualifying healthcare professionals, and also works with F-1 students through OPT and CPT, as well as TN visa holders. Their sponsorship is oriented toward long-term employment rather than short-term nonimmigrant status, which suits internationally trained clinicians looking to build a permanent career in the U.S.
Which roles at Sun River Health are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Clinical and patient-facing positions are the most likely candidates for sponsorship at Sun River Health. This includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other licensed healthcare providers working in their community health centers. Administrative and non-clinical support roles are less commonly associated with sponsorship activity based on historical filing patterns.
How do I find open roles at Sun River Health that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable way is to search for Sun River Health specifically on Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by verified sponsorship history so you only see roles from employers with a documented track record. You can also check Sun River Health's own careers page and ask recruiters directly whether a specific position is eligible for Green Card or OPT support during the initial screening call.
How do I approach the application process at Sun River Health as an international candidate?
Be transparent about your immigration status and sponsorship needs early in the process. Sun River Health's recruitment team is familiar with healthcare sponsorship pathways, so a direct conversation about your visa situation is appropriate and expected. Emphasize your clinical experience, any community health background, and your long-term commitment to the organization's mission when positioning yourself for roles that include permanent residency support.
