About Sun River Health
Sun River Health has a rich history of providing quality, affordable health care to communities in need. Founded in the early 1970s by four African American women in Peekskill, New York, the organization was established to address the lack of accessible health services in their community. With the help of a small federal grant, the first Sun River Health site opened its doors in 1975. Over the years, Sun River Health has grown into a comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system with over 45 locations, serving more than 250,000 patients across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. Our exceptional primary care practitioners, specialists and support staff are dedicated to delivering high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay. In December 2018, Sun River Health expanded its reach by merging with Brightpoint Health, an FQHC network offering integrated medical, behavioral and social support services in New York City. This merger allowed us to enhance our services and continue our mission under the unified name of Sun River Health.

Tips for Finding Healthcare Jobs at Sun River Health
Align Your Credentials with FQHC Requirements
Sun River Health operates as a federally qualified health center, so clinical roles often require state licensure and credentialing specific to New York. Confirm your degree equivalency and professional license eligibility before applying, since credentialing delays can stall sponsorship timelines significantly.
Target Roles with PERM Labor Certification History
EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship requires PERM labor certification through DOL. For healthcare positions, confirm the role has a clearly defined minimum degree requirement, since PERM applications for roles without firm educational standards face higher audit risk.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Search for Sun River Health Healthcare openings on Migrate Mate to filter specifically by visa type. This helps you identify which roles have active sponsorship history rather than cold-applying to positions where sponsorship intent is unclear.
Negotiate Sponsorship Terms Before Accepting Any Offer
Ask directly whether the organization covers PERM and I-140 filing fees or passes costs to you. USCIS filing fees for employment-based green card petitions are the employer's legal responsibility under DOL regulations, and confirming this upfront prevents costly surprises after signing.
Validate Your OPT or CPT End Date Against Hiring Timelines
FQHC hiring cycles can run eight to twelve weeks from application to start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate whether your authorization end date provides enough runway for onboarding and any subsequent H-1B or EB sponsorship filing to begin.
Research New York State Licensing Timelines Early
New York professional license processing for healthcare roles, including RN endorsements and physician endorsements, can take several months. Starting the licensing application before your job search concludes prevents gaps between offer acceptance and your legal ability to begin work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sun River Health sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Sun River Health's sponsorship activity for Healthcare roles centers primarily on employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and TN visas. If you're specifically seeking H-1B visa sponsorship, raise it directly with the hiring team early in the process, since sponsorship decisions are often role-specific and depend on budget cycle and position level.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Sun River Health?
Applications go through Sun River Health's careers portal, where Healthcare roles are listed by location and clinical specialty. You can also browse verified open positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where sponsorship has been confirmed rather than assumed. Tailor your application to highlight New York licensure status and any FQHC or community health experience.
Which visa types are commonly used for Healthcare roles at Sun River Health?
Sun River Health has sponsored Healthcare professionals through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories, as well as F-1 OPT and TN visas for eligible candidates. TN sponsorship applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations under the USMCA. F-1 CPT is also listed, typically relevant for students completing clinical rotations or supervised practicums as part of a degree program.
What qualifications does Sun River Health expect for Healthcare roles?
Most clinical Healthcare roles at Sun River Health require a relevant degree, active or pending New York State professional licensure, and experience in primary care, behavioral health, or community health settings. As a federally qualified health center, Sun River prioritizes candidates with experience serving low-income or medically underserved populations. Credentialing through CAQH and malpractice history review are standard parts of the onboarding process.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process typically take for Healthcare roles?
For employment-based Green Card sponsorship, expect the PERM labor certification process through DOL to take six to eighteen months before USCIS even receives the I-140 petition. F-1 OPT transitions are faster but time-limited. Plan to initiate sponsorship conversations at the offer stage, not after starting, since FQHC HR teams need lead time to coordinate legal counsel and DOL prevailing wage filings.
