Align your credentials before applying
Sun River Health operates federally qualified health centers, so verify your Medical Assistant certification meets their clinical requirements. A CMA or RMA credential from AAMA or AMT signals you're ready to work in a regulated community health setting from day one.
Target high-volume clinic locations strategically
Sun River Health runs dozens of clinic sites across New York. Locations with more open Medical Assistant postings signal active workforce gaps, which increases the practical likelihood that a hiring manager has both budget and urgency to move forward on sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-ready openings
Not every Medical Assistant posting at Sun River Health will explicitly mention visa sponsorship. Browse Migrate Mate to surface roles at Sun River Health that are verified for sponsorship eligibility, so you're not wasting applications on positions that won't support your visa situation.
Negotiate OPT start timing with HR proactively
If you're on F-1 OPT, Medical Assistant roles qualify as STEM-adjacent only under specific SOC codes. Confirm with Sun River Health's HR team early whether your role classification supports your OPT category, and build in buffer time before your EAD expiration date.
Understand what the PERM process requires from you
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, DOL's PERM labor certification requires Sun River Health to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Your job is to maintain clean employment records and have your educational transcripts and credentials ready for the employer's attorney.
Clarify TN eligibility for your specific role title
TN visa classification for Medical Assistants depends on how Sun River Health titles the position. Roles listed under medical technician or a clinically specific function may qualify under TN categories. Confirm the exact job title before the offer stage to avoid delays at the border.

Does Sun River Health sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Sun River Health's sponsorship activity for Medical Assistants has been concentrated in permanent residency pathways like EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and CPT. H-1B sponsorship for Medical Assistants is less common in community health settings because the role does not always meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Confirm directly with their HR team during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Sun River Health?
You can browse and apply for Medical Assistant positions at Sun River Health through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is verified. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight clinical experience in community health or primary care settings, and address your visa status in your cover letter to avoid early-stage filtering.
Which visa types does Sun River Health typically use for Medical Assistant roles?
Sun River Health has sponsored Medical Assistants through F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3. TN visa eligibility may also apply depending on how the role is classified. Permanent residency pathways are the most substantive form of sponsorship the organization has demonstrated for this function.
What qualifications does Sun River Health expect for Medical Assistant roles?
Sun River Health serves low-income and underserved communities through a federally qualified health center model, so candidates with clinical experience in primary care, multilingual abilities, or experience in community health settings carry a practical advantage. A Medical Assistant certification from AAMA or AMT is generally expected, and bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish speakers, are frequently prioritized across their clinic network.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Sun River Health to sponsor my work visa?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply well before your EAD expiration to leave room for onboarding and any USCIS processing delays. For EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, the PERM labor certification stage alone can take six months or longer through DOL, followed by the I-140 petition at USCIS. Start conversations with HR about sponsorship intent before or during the offer negotiation, not after you've signed.
