Align Your Credentials With Healthcare Admin Standards
Sun River Health operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center, so prioritize any certifications in medical office administration, EHR systems like Epic or NextGen, or HIPAA compliance training before applying. These credentials signal readiness for their specific operational environment.
Target Locations With Consistent Open Roles
Sun River Health runs dozens of sites across New York, which means Administrative Assistant openings are spread across multiple locations. Apply broadly across their network rather than waiting on a single site, since sponsorship decisions often hinge on which hiring manager has a current, urgent need.
Clarify OPT Cap-Gap Coverage Before Your Start Date
If you're on F-1 OPT and receive an offer from Sun River Health, confirm your employment start date falls within your authorized work period. If your OPT expires before onboarding, ask HR whether they can accommodate a later start while your cap-gap extension or next status is processed.
Ask Directly About PERM Filing Timelines During Offer Negotiations
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires a PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS petition filing, which typically adds over a year to the process. During offer negotiations, ask whether Sun River Health has handled PERM before for this role level and what their internal timeline looks like.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Administrative Assistant roles with genuine sponsorship support are harder to identify through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse Sun River Health's active listings filtered by visa type, so you apply only to roles where sponsorship has been confirmed rather than assumed.
Prepare a Work Authorization Summary for HR Early
Sun River Health's HR teams manage compliance across a large multi-site network. Bring a one-page summary of your current visa status, authorized work period, and next steps to your first HR conversation. This reduces delays caused by unfamiliarity with specific visa categories like TN or F-1 OPT.

Find Administrative Assistant at Sun River Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sun River Health sponsor H-1B visas for Administrative Assistants?
Sun River Health's documented sponsorship activity for Administrative Assistant roles has focused on employment-based Green Card pathways and F-1 OPT rather than H-1B. Administrative Assistant positions generally don't meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard required for H-1B classification, since the role doesn't typically require a specific bachelor's degree in a specialized field. If H-1B is your current status, confirm with the hiring team whether your specific responsibilities could support that classification.
Which visa types are commonly used for Administrative Assistant roles at Sun River Health?
Sun River Health has sponsored Administrative Assistants through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories, as well as F-1 OPT and CPT for students in healthcare administration or related fields. TN status is also listed as a supported pathway, which is relevant for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying administrative occupations. Each pathway has different timing and documentation requirements, so clarify which applies to your situation early in the hiring process.
What qualifications or experience does Sun River Health expect for Administrative Assistant roles?
Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center, so candidates with experience in community health or clinical office settings have a clear advantage. Familiarity with electronic health record systems, scheduling software, and medical billing workflows is commonly expected. Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are frequently valued given the patient populations served. A healthcare administration credential or relevant associate's or bachelor's degree strengthens an application, though requirements vary by location and department.
How do I apply for Administrative Assistant jobs at Sun River Health?
You can search for Administrative Assistant openings directly on Sun River Health's careers page, but listings don't always specify visa sponsorship availability. For a faster path, browse Sun River Health's verified sponsorship-confirmed listings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you can identify positions where sponsorship is documented before investing time in the application. Apply with a resume that highlights healthcare administrative experience and your current work authorization status.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at Sun River Health for Administrative Assistants?
For F-1 OPT candidates, authorization is typically already in place and onboarding timelines align with standard hiring processes. For employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, the PERM labor certification process with DOL alone can take a year or more before USCIS even receives the petition. Factor in your priority date and any applicable country backlogs when planning. Starting the conversation with Sun River Health's HR team about sponsorship intent as early as the offer stage helps avoid last-minute processing gaps.
