Application
Eligibility:
* Currently enrolled undergraduate (junior or senior), graduate student or recent graduate (up to 6 months).
* Available 40 hours per week in-office in Los Angeles.
* 10 week duration
* Paid internship: $25/hr
We're looking for 2–3 passionate Game Design Interns to join our team for a 10-week paid internship. You'll work hands-on with our design team on two live titles, Good Pizza, Great Pizza and Good Coffee, Great Coffee contributing directly to the game designs, mechanics, and balance that shape the player experience. You'll be doing real design work, pitching ideas, and seeing your contributions make it into games played by millions. At the end of the 10 weeks, top-performing interns will be considered for a full-time Associate Game Designer role.
ABOUT TAPBLAZE
Our mission is to create memorable entertainment experiences for players around the world. Our vision is to become one of the world's leading entertainment companies. As a self-funded, independent studio, we only answer to our players - not investors, not publishers. Good Pizza, Great Pizza has been downloaded more than 300 million times, and we did it with a small, focused team.
Our core values drive everything we do:
- We are ambitious. We aim to build games that are remembered for decades.
- We are disciplined. We make deliberate, well-reasoned decisions.
- We are ownership-minded. If it's your area, you own it, the wins and the problems.
- We are results oriented. We measure success by what ships and what players experience.
- We are extra-ordinary. We hold ourselves to a higher standard than the industry expects of a studio our size.
We are seeking individuals that share these values and are looking to level up themselves, the games they work on, and the company they work for. Only with great attention to details can this be achieved. Please include the phrase "beauty is in the details" in your cover letter.
- Prototype and pitch an original idea for a new feature, event, or content update.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop and iterate on a game mechanic, system, and/or content for Good Pizza, Great Pizza and Good Coffee, Great Coffee.
- Design, document, and balance in-game systems including recipes, progression, customer behaviors, and economy tuning.
- Create and maintain clear, detailed design documentation (feature specs, balance spreadsheets, flowcharts).
- Playtest builds and provide structured, actionable feedback on gameplay feel and balance.
- Analyze player data and feedback to identify balance issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in design reviews, brainstorms, and team critiques.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A genuine love of games and a curiosity about what makes them work. You think about why a mechanic is fun, not just that it's fun.
- Foundational understanding of game design principles: feedback loops, pacing, progression, player motivation, and economy design.
- Strong analytical skills, comfort with spreadsheets, numbers, and tuning variables to find the right balance.
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain and defend design decisions.
- A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and prioritize across multiple tasks.
- Great attention to details - you read the full job description.
BONUS POINTS
- Experience with game design tools (Unity, game engines, Claude, prototyping tools, or scripting).
- A portfolio, passion project, or game jam entry that showcases your design thinking.
- Familiarity with mobile/casual game design and free-to-play economies.
- Experience with or knowledge of cozy, simulation, restaurant, or management game genres.
- Background in data analysis or player behavior research.
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
- Hands-on experience designing for live games with real player bases.
- Mentorship.
- A deep understanding of mobile game design, balancing, and live operations.
- A clear pathway to a full-time Associate Game Designer position based on performance.
- A portfolio-worthy body of work from your contributions.
Physical Requirements
- Los Angeles, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work.
- Prolonged period of time sitting at a desk and computer.

Job Roles at TapBlaze Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in TapBlaze Visa Sponsorship USA
Emphasize specialized technical skills
TapBlaze operates in mobile gaming and software development. Candidates with specialized skills in game development, backend engineering, or mobile platforms are best positioned for roles where the company has historically pursued immigration sponsorship.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 process before applying
TapBlaze sponsors through employment-based Green Card categories, which involve a multi-step PERM labor certification process. Knowing this timeline upfront helps you ask the right questions during interviews and set realistic expectations with the hiring team.
Apply proactively even when no roles are listed
Smaller technology companies like TapBlaze often hire through direct outreach rather than active postings. Reaching out to their team with a tailored pitch for a technical role can surface opportunities before they're publicly advertised.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship history before applying
Sponsorship activity at smaller tech companies can be hard to verify independently. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and confirm TapBlaze's track record before investing time in your application.
Be transparent about your visa situation early
TapBlaze is a smaller technology company, so immigration decisions often involve senior leadership directly. Raising your sponsorship needs early in the process, rather than after an offer, avoids surprises and shows you understand how Green Card sponsorship works.

Does TapBlaze sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, TapBlaze's immigration activity has been focused on permanent residency through Green Card sponsorship rather than H-1B temporary work visas. If you're currently on an H-1B or need a temporary work visa to start, it's worth discussing your specific situation directly with TapBlaze's hiring team, as sponsorship decisions at smaller companies can vary by role and timing.
What visa types does TapBlaze sponsor?
TapBlaze has sponsored employment-based Green Cards, specifically through EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. These pathways are designed for professionals in specialty occupations and skilled workers, making them well suited to software and technology roles. The company has not shown a pattern of sponsoring temporary nonimmigrant visas, so Green Card sponsorship appears to be their primary immigration pathway.
Which roles at TapBlaze are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
As a mobile gaming and software company, TapBlaze's sponsored roles are most likely to be in technical areas such as software engineering, mobile development, and backend systems. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 generally requires the employer to demonstrate the role requires a specialized skill set, so positions with clearly defined technical requirements tend to be the strongest candidates for sponsorship.
How do I find open jobs at TapBlaze that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most reliable way to find TapBlaze openings with verified sponsorship history. Unlike general job boards, Migrate Mate filters roles by actual immigration filing data, so you can see which companies have a real track record of sponsoring international candidates rather than relying on unverified job descriptions. Search for TapBlaze directly on the platform to see current openings.
How do I approach the application process at TapBlaze as an international candidate?
Start by confirming that the role you're applying for is in a technical area where TapBlaze has previously sponsored, then be upfront about your immigration needs during the early screening stage. Because TapBlaze is a smaller company, immigration decisions often involve leadership directly. Coming in with a basic understanding of the EB-2 or EB-3 process, including the PERM labor certification step, demonstrates seriousness and helps the conversation move faster.
