Credential Your PA License Before Applying
Ohio requires PA licensure through the State Medical Board before you can practice. Start that process early, as USCIS and the university's HR team will both expect proof of state licensure eligibility when reviewing your H-1B petition.
Target University Health Services Postings Directly
University of Cincinnati posts PA roles across its clinical affiliates and student health centers, not just the main hospital system. Searching only one job portal means missing openings in departments that regularly hire international candidates.
Confirm Specialty Occupation Standing for Your PA Role
USCIS scrutinizes Physician Assistant petitions under H-1B specialty occupation standards. Ask the recruiter which clinical department is filing, since roles tied to a specific specialty like cardiology or orthopedics carry stronger specialty occupation arguments than general outpatient PA positions.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified PA Openings
Finding PA roles at universities that actively sponsor visas takes more than a keyword search. Use Migrate Mate to filter University of Cincinnati Physician Assistant postings by visa type so you apply only to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Request PERM Timeline Clarity During Offer Negotiations
If your long-term goal is an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, ask HR during the offer stage whether the university has a standard PERM initiation policy. DOL's PERM process typically takes 12 to 18 months before I-140 filing, and starting that clock early matters significantly for PA roles in high-demand specialties.
Align Your J-1 Waiver Status Before Filing Begins
Many international PAs arrive through J-1 exchange programs subject to the two-year home residency requirement. If that applies to you, secure a Conrad 30 waiver or federal agency waiver before the university initiates any H-1B petition, as the J-1 bar blocks USCIS approval otherwise.

Find Physician Assistant at University Of Cincinnati JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University Of Cincinnati sponsor H-1B visas for Physician Assistants?
Yes. University of Cincinnati sponsors H-1B visas for Physician Assistant roles across its academic medical system. PA positions qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards because the role requires at minimum a master's-level PA degree. The university's central HR and legal team manages the petition process, and sponsorship is typically initiated after a formal offer is extended.
Which visa types are commonly used for Physician Assistant roles at University Of Cincinnati?
H-1B is the most common path for PA roles at University of Cincinnati, but the university also sponsors TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 exchange visitor visas for clinical training placements, and F-1 OPT or CPT for PA students completing supervised practice hours. For permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based sponsorship is available for qualifying clinical staff positions.
How do I apply for Physician Assistant jobs at University Of Cincinnati?
Applications go through the University of Cincinnati's central careers portal, where PA roles are listed by department and clinical affiliate. Review each posting carefully for sponsorship language, as not every listing explicitly states visa support even when it is available. Migrate Mate aggregates University of Cincinnati PA openings filtered by visa type, which makes it easier to identify roles where sponsorship has been confirmed before you invest time in the application.
What qualifications are expected for Physician Assistant roles at University Of Cincinnati?
University of Cincinnati expects PA candidates to hold a master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program and to be NCCPA certified or eligible. Ohio state licensure through the State Medical Board is required before you can practice. Roles in subspecialty departments like emergency medicine or surgery may also require prior clinical experience in that specific area, which strengthens both the hire and the H-1B specialty occupation argument.
How do I understand the H-1B filing timeline for a PA role at University Of Cincinnati?
If your role is cap-subject, the university must file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start date, meaning your offer needs to be in place before the March registration window. Cap-exempt filings, which may apply if your role is primarily affiliated with a teaching hospital or research function, can be filed at any time. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months, while premium processing reduces that to 15 business days.
