Frame your credentials around water sector outcomes
Xylem's Business Development roles focus on selling water treatment, measurement, and infrastructure solutions. Tailor your resume to show revenue impact or partnership growth within utilities, municipalities, or environmental services rather than general B2B sales experience.
Target roles tied to infrastructure expansion cycles
Xylem wins large municipal contracts tied to federal infrastructure funding. Applications submitted when new regional offices or solution lines are announced have stronger sponsorship leverage because headcount is already approved and roles are budgeted from day one.
Clarify your visa category before the first interview
Xylem sponsors multiple work visa types, but each carries different employer obligations and timelines. Confirm whether your status requires cap-subject H-1B or an employer-specific transfer so both parties can plan around USCIS filing windows without surprises late in the offer process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Xylem posts Business Development positions across U.S. regions with varying visa eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Xylem openings that match your visa category, so you spend time on roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Prepare a PERM-aware work history file early
If your goal is permanent residency through an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, DOL requires a detailed chronological employment history for the PERM audit. Gather official employment records, offer letters, and degree equivalency documentation before the offer stage so the process doesn't stall.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B portability rules
If you're transferring an existing H-1B to Xylem, you can begin work once the new I-129 petition is filed with USCIS, not when it's approved. Aligning your start date to the filing date protects you from a gap in authorized employment status during the transition.

Find Business Development at Xylem JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Xylem sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Xylem sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. The company has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions in this function, covering both cap-subject first-time petitions and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status. If you're in the H-1B lottery cycle, timing your application process to align with the April filing window is essential.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Xylem?
You can apply directly through Xylem's careers site or browse open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. Business Development positions at Xylem typically require a formal application, followed by recruiter screening, panel interviews focused on solution selling and market development, and a final offer stage where visa sponsorship terms are confirmed in writing.
Which visa types does Xylem commonly sponsor for Business Development roles?
Xylem sponsors a range of visa categories for Business Development hires, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for candidates pursuing permanent residency. The right category depends on your nationality, educational background, and career stage.
What qualifications does Xylem expect for sponsored Business Development positions?
Xylem's Business Development roles in water and environmental solutions typically require a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field, along with experience in technical sales, account management, or market development. Familiarity with utility procurement processes, municipal contracting, or industrial water treatment strengthens your candidacy significantly for roles that qualify for specialty occupation sponsorship.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored offer at Xylem?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date, which means Xylem needs to extend an offer well before that window. OPT and TN candidates face shorter lead times. For PERM-based Green Card cases, the DOL process alone can take 12 to 18 months, so raising your long-term sponsorship goals early in negotiations matters.
