Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Sales Jobs at Xylem Jobs
Frame your background around water sector sales
Xylem's Sales roles focus on technical solutions for utilities and wastewater treatment facilities. Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight any experience selling capital equipment, infrastructure services, or environmental compliance products, even if outside the water industry.
Identify which Xylem divisions hire internationally
Xylem operates across distinct business units including Sensus, Wedeco, and Flygt. Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data to see which divisions have historically filed LCAs for Sales titles, then target your applications to those specific business units.
Time your OPT application before your STEM extension window
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your role qualifies under a STEM-eligible SOC code before accepting an offer. Sales Engineer and Technical Sales Representative roles at Xylem often meet this threshold, giving you up to 36 months of work authorization while an H-1B is pursued.
Clarify sponsorship intent early in the interview process
Xylem's recruiter conversations typically surface visa questions before the offer stage. Ask directly whether the specific business unit has an established immigration counsel relationship and whether H-1B cap-subject or cap-exempt pathways are available for your target role.
Understand the H-1B filing calendar for your offer timing
H-1B cap registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If Xylem extends an offer outside that window, negotiate a start date that aligns with the USCIS registration period so your petition can be filed without a gap in work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Sales openings at Xylem
Roles with visa sponsorship rarely flag it clearly in public job postings. Migrate Mate filters open Sales positions at Xylem by sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on positions where international candidates have a documented path to filing.

Find Sales at Xylem JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Xylem sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Yes. Xylem has sponsored H-1B visas for Sales professionals, particularly in technical and solutions-oriented roles such as Sales Engineer or Strategic Account Manager. Sponsorship is typically handled through the specific business unit making the hire, so availability can vary. Confirming visa support during the recruiter screen is the most reliable way to verify for your specific opening.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Xylem?
You can apply directly through Xylem's careers portal or find open Sales roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, prioritize roles in divisions that serve municipal water, wastewater, or industrial water treatment clients, as these teams have the strongest international hiring precedent. Tailoring your application to Xylem's solution categories improves callback rates.
Which visa types does Xylem commonly use for Sales positions?
Xylem supports a range of visa categories for Sales hires, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for longer-term employees. The pathway offered typically depends on your current status, nationality, and the seniority of the role.
What qualifications does Xylem expect for Sales roles that include visa sponsorship?
Most Sales roles at Xylem that attract visa sponsorship require a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in B2B or technical sales. Roles targeting utilities and municipal clients often value familiarity with water infrastructure, treatment processes, or regulatory compliance. Sales Engineer titles tend to require a more technical academic background than account management roles.
How do I plan my timeline if Xylem offers me a Sales role requiring H-1B sponsorship?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, negotiate a start date that allows Xylem's immigration counsel to file within the registration period. If you're currently on OPT, confirm whether your Sales role qualifies for a STEM extension, which can provide up to 36 months of coverage while the H-1B process runs its course.
