Align your certifications to Xylem's equipment
Xylem operates pumps, filtration systems, and monitoring equipment across water and wastewater sites. Certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or instrumentation signal direct relevance and strengthen your petition when Xylem files an H-1B or employment-based Green Card for a technical operations role.
Target facility locations with recurring openings
Xylem's Maintenance hiring concentrates around its manufacturing and service centers in states with large water infrastructure portfolios. Search by city, not just company name, so you can prioritize sites with consistent open requisitions, which signal active sponsorship pipelines in that function.
Use Migrate Mate to filter active Xylem postings
Maintenance roles at Xylem move quickly and don't always surface on general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you filter for Xylem openings that have a sponsorship history, so you spend your time on positions where international candidates have actually been hired.
Clarify OPT and CPT timing with your recruiter early
Xylem sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT, but Maintenance roles often involve shift-based or on-site schedules that complicate part-time CPT arrangements. Confirm your work authorization end date upfront so the recruiter can sequence the offer letter and any USCIS filings before your current authorization lapses.
Understand how PERM shapes your timeline
If Xylem sponsors you for an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the employer must complete a DOL PERM labor certification before filing your immigrant petition. Recruitment for that process typically takes six to twelve months, so factor that into how you evaluate an offer against your current visa status.
Prepare documentation showing hands-on system experience
USCIS scrutinizes Maintenance petitions for specialty occupation evidence. Log books, maintenance records, or employer letters detailing the specific systems you've serviced, such as SCADA platforms or pump control panels, give Xylem's immigration counsel concrete material to build a defensible H-1B or employment-based petition.

Find Maintenance at Xylem JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Xylem sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenances?
Yes, Xylem has an established record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Maintenance professionals in its water and wastewater operations. Sponsorship is most consistent for roles requiring specialized technical knowledge, such as instrumentation, controls, or industrial electrical systems. Your strongest position is applying to facilities with active or recurring Maintenance requisitions, where the hiring team is already familiar with the sponsorship process.
How do I apply for Maintenance jobs at Xylem?
Apply directly through Xylem's careers portal, and tailor your resume to the specific equipment and systems listed in the job description. Migrate Mate surfaces Xylem Maintenance postings filtered by sponsorship history, which helps you prioritize roles where international candidates have a realistic path. Flag your work authorization status early in the screening process so recruiters can loop in immigration counsel before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Xylem commonly use for Maintenance roles?
Xylem sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for Maintenance positions. H-1B is most common for long-term hires in technical operations. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or technician categories. F-1 OPT is a practical entry point for recent graduates pursuing a permanent sponsorship path.
What qualifications does Xylem expect for sponsored Maintenance positions?
Xylem's sponsored Maintenance roles typically require a degree or formal technical training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, plus hands-on experience with the types of systems used in water and wastewater treatment. Familiarity with pump systems, SCADA controls, or environmental monitoring equipment is frequently listed. USCIS requires that the role qualify as a specialty occupation, so a strong educational match to the job duties is essential.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Xylem Maintenance offer?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B standard processing runs three to five months after USCIS receives the petition, with premium processing available to reduce that to roughly two weeks. If Xylem pursues a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, the DOL PERM labor certification stage alone can take six months to over a year before the immigrant petition is filed. Clarify the intended pathway with Xylem's HR team before accepting an offer.
