Tips for Your Conference Services Manager Job Search
Quantify event volume on your resume
Conference services managers are evaluated on scale. List the number of events you managed annually, peak attendee counts, and total function space you oversaw. Hiring managers compare candidates by operational capacity, so vague descriptions of 'large events' won't stand out.
Highlight your BEO and Delphi experience
Banquet Event Orders and sales management systems like Delphi, CI/TY, or Amadeus come up in nearly every listing. Name the specific platforms you've used in your resume's skills section, not just under job descriptions, so they're easy to spot during a keyword screen.
Target listings by property type, not just title
A conference services manager role at a 500-room convention hotel is a different job than the same title at a university conference center or a corporate campus. Filter your search by employer type to find environments where your specific experience, whether group room blocks, academic scheduling, or internal executive events, directly applies.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists conference services manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a portfolio of complex event logistics
Come to interviews ready to walk through a challenging event from contract to execution: how you coordinated with catering, AV, and facilities under a tight turnaround, or how you managed a last-minute room change for a 300-person general session. Specific walkthroughs outperform general answers about being detail-oriented.
Negotiate using total revenue responsibility
When you reach the offer stage, anchor your compensation discussion to the total event revenue or function space revenue you managed, not just headcount or years of experience. Conference services roles with high-volume banquet and catering revenue carry demonstrable business impact that supports a stronger starting point.
Conference Services Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most conference services managers?
The companies hiring the most conference services managers right now include AFP MANAGEMENT, Omni Hotels, and Sage Hospitality, with the largest share of openings in Colorado, New York, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hotel groups and convention center operators tend to post the highest volume of openings year-round.
How many conference services manager jobs are remote?
About 0% of conference services manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the on-site nature of most event coordination roles. The sub-areas most likely to allow remote work include pre-event planning, contract administration, and client communications for corporate accounts, rather than day-of operations.
How do you become a conference services manager?
Most conference services managers start in front-of-house hotel roles, catering coordination, or event planning assistantships before stepping into the manager title. Building hands-on experience with Banquet Event Orders, group room block management, and vendor coordination is more important than any single credential. A degree in hospitality management accelerates the path, and a Certified Meeting Professional designation strengthens your candidacy for senior roles.
Can you get hired as a conference services manager with little experience?
Entry into conference services management is possible with one to two years in adjacent hospitality roles, particularly front desk, catering sales, or event setup. Employers in smaller properties or university conference centers are more likely to hire candidates who can show strong organizational skills, software familiarity, and direct client communication experience, even without a full manager title in their history.
What does the conference services manager interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a phone screen focused on your event volume and property background, followed by an in-person or video interview with the director of sales or catering. Expect scenario-based questions about handling overbookings, last-minute client changes, or interdepartmental conflicts. Some properties include a property tour or a practical exercise involving a sample Banquet Event Order, especially for mid-level roles.
Where can I find and apply to conference services manager jobs?
You can find and apply to conference services manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your background and apply directly to each listing without leaving the platform.
