Construction Project Manager — Residential

S&A Construction has served Wichita-area customers since 1994 with remodeling, restoration, and home-improvement

services. We are looking for an organized, accountable Project Manager who can turn an approved scope into a well-run

project and a confident customer.

This position manages sold projects from handoff through closeout, with one to two Project Coordinators on your team to

assist with duties and workload. It is not a commission sales role. You will work with the General Manager and

coordinate closely with our Superintendent to align schedules, field resources, workmanship, and customer

commitments.

Schedule & emergency response

This is an office- and jobsite-based position. Some after-hours duties are required depending on fire and water mitigation

needs, including customer communication and project coordination.

What you will do

• Review sold-job scopes, estimates, specifications, selections, and customer expectations before work starts; resolve

gaps early.

• Build and maintain practical project schedules, coordinating crew needs with the Superintendent and arranging

subcontractor work and material deliveries.

• Monitor job budgets, committed costs, and remaining work; identify cost overruns, scope gaps, and schedule risks

early.

• Document and obtain required approvals for change orders before additional work proceeds; coordinate

insurance-related scopes, supplements, and supporting documentation with estimating and program staff, carriers,

adjusters, and third-party administrators (TPAs), within assigned authority.

• Keep homeowners and insurance stakeholders informed about schedules, progress, scope questions, and next steps.

Set clear expectations, document commitments, and escalate coverage or authorization questions to the appropriate

party without promising insurance coverage.

• Maintain accurate records in DASH, including photos, job notes, schedules, approvals, and status. Coordinate timely

documentation and reporting required by insurance programs with internal program staff.

• Visit jobsites to verify progress and quality, reinforce safe work practices, and resolve issues with the Superintendent

and trade partners.

• Coordinate inspections, punch lists, customer walkthroughs, closeout documents, and information needed by the

office for accurate billing.

How you will work with our team

The Project Manager owns project coordination, documentation, budget tracking, and customer follow-through. You will

lead one to two Project Coordinators, delegate tasks, set priorities, review follow-through, and remain accountable for

overall project delivery. The Superintendent leads field execution and crew coordination. You will communicate priorities

and resource needs with the Superintendent rather than issue conflicting instructions to the field. Escalate safety

concerns immediately and bring unresolved scope, cost, or staffing conflicts to the General Manager.

What we are looking for

• At least three years of relevant construction experience, including responsibility for coordinating projects, trades,

schedules, or customers. Equivalent military construction or project-leadership experience will be considered.

• Working knowledge of residential construction, trade sequencing, remodeling methods, and jobsite safety.
• Ability to read scopes, estimates, plans, and specifications and recognize missing information or potential conflicts.
• Strong organization and written communication; comfort managing multiple active projects and documenting

follow-through.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; ability to learn and consistently use DASH and restoration

project-management platforms.

• Ability to travel between the Wichita office and local jobsites; a valid driver’s license is required for job-related driving.
• Ability to perform essential office and jobsite responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Helpful experience

Residential remodeling or insurance-restoration project management; DASH or comparable job-management software;

Xactimate and XactAnalysis; experience coordinating with insurance carriers, adjusters, and TPAs; subcontractor

coordination; customer communication during occupied-home construction; and applicable safety or restoration

certifications. A construction-related degree is helpful but not required.

Jobs start with a clear scope and workable plan. Customers receive timely updates. Field teams have the information

and resources they need. Changes are documented and approved. Budgets and schedules are actively managed.

Projects close with completed punch lists and fewer preventable callbacks.
