Construction Project Manager Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction project manager job in Columbus?
Focus on Columbus's most active hiring sectors: commercial real estate development Downtown and in the Short North, public infrastructure projects tied to the city's growth, and institutional work at hospitals and universities on the east and west sides. Candidates with experience managing ground-up commercial builds or large-scale renovations have a clear edge here. Local subcontractor relationships and familiarity with Columbus permitting processes also strengthen your profile significantly.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Columbus?
Employers hiring construction project managers in Columbus right now include Superior, Marker, and MBACSi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus draws a mix of regional general contractors, national construction management firms with local offices, and large institutional owners who staff project managers in-house.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Columbus?
Yes, but only for select functions. Construction project management is largely site-dependent, so fully remote roles are rare. About 16% of construction project manager openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, typically covering preconstruction, estimating, or owner's representative roles. On-site supervision, subcontractor coordination, and field oversight remain in-person in Columbus regardless of employer.
How can I get a construction project manager job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through an assistant project manager or project engineer role with a regional general contractor or a Columbus-based construction management firm. Employers supporting Columbus's ongoing commercial and infrastructure growth frequently hire entry-level candidates with a construction management or civil engineering degree. Internships tied to Ohio State University's construction programs and Columbus-area community college pathways also open doors to local hiring pipelines.
Which industries hire the most construction project managers in Columbus?
Most construction project manager openings in Columbus sit in Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus's sustained population growth, active Downtown redevelopment, and continued expansion of healthcare and higher education campuses make those sectors the steadiest sources of local construction project management demand.
