PMBA Architects is seeking an experienced Project Architect to provide design leadership and technical expertise throughout all phases of project delivery. This role requires an integrated approach to design, ensuring quality solutions, technical excellence, and successful project outcomes. The Project Architect will manage projects, lead teams, mentor staff, and develop strategies that align with clients' goals, budgets, schedules, and design standards.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Project Management

• Lead and direct project design teams.
• Manage project schedules, staffing, and daily workflow.
• Take ownership of projects from concept through construction.
• Mentor and develop team members to achieve project goals and professional growth.
• Delegate tasks, provide feedback, and monitor progress of junior staff.
• Lead project coordination meetings and distribute meeting minutes.

Design & Technical Excellence

• Develop design solutions that align with client objectives, budgets, and schedules.
• Prepare and present designs, specifications, estimated costs, and construction schedules.
• Create preliminary design concepts and sketches to assist clients in defining project priorities and vision.
• Collaborate with technical designers to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in construction documents.
• Conduct model reviews to verify design efficiency, constructability, and coordination.
• Research project feasibility and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Stay current with emerging design trends and industry best practices.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Perform quality assurance reviews for completeness, accuracy, coordination, and compliance with office standards.
• Ensure adherence to applicable building codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Assist in developing and maintaining quality control procedures and design standards.

Client & Consultant Coordination

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Identify and document client requirements, project budgets, schedules, and future expansion needs.
• Coordinate effectively with engineers and consultants to maintain project momentum and review schedules.
• Respond promptly to client and contractor requests.
• Present design concepts and construction documents for client review and approval.

Construction Administration

• Conduct site visits and gather project data as required.
• Monitor project budgets and schedules.
• Review and process RFIs, bulletins, shop drawings, and other construction-related documentation.
• Attend job meetings and coordinate with contractors to ensure project execution aligns with design intent and client expectations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles and technical building systems.
• Proven project management and team leadership abilities.
• Experience producing and coordinating complete construction document sets.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and client consultation skills.
• Ability to translate client ideas into drawings, models, and design solutions.
• Experience with hand sketching and conceptual visualization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel as project needs require.
• Healthcare project experience preferred.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture required; Master's Degree preferred.
• NCARB Certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $93,000.00 - $117,000.00 per year
