CPT Account Manager Jobs
Account Manager roles qualify for CPT when your program ties client relationship work, sales pipeline management, or business development directly to your curriculum. Your DSO must authorize CPT before your start date, and the work must align with your enrolled courses, not just your degree field broadly.

Get Access To All JobsAccount Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Manager role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if your program includes coursework in sales, marketing, business development, or client relations. The role must be an integral part of your curriculum, not just related to your degree. Your DSO evaluates whether the specific duties, such as managing client accounts, running sales cycles, or coordinating cross-functional teams, connect directly to your enrolled courses.
Can I do full-time CPT as an Account Manager without losing OPT?
Full-time CPT is defined as 20 or more hours per week. If you accumulate 12 or more months of full-time CPT across your program, you lose all OPT eligibility, including STEM OPT. Part-time CPT at under 20 hours per week does not count toward that threshold regardless of duration, so structuring your authorization carefully matters.
What does my employer need to provide for CPT authorization?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter stating your official job title as Account Manager, your exact start and end dates, your weekly hours, your work location, and a brief description of duties. Some DSOs also require a statement explaining how the role connects to your specific coursework. Get this letter on company letterhead before approaching your DSO.
How do I find Account Manager jobs that fit CPT requirements?
Search Migrate Mate for Account Manager roles at companies with established foreign national hiring patterns. Employers with prior work authorization experience are more likely to understand CPT documentation requirements and less likely to withdraw offers when they learn about F-1 restrictions. Filter by industry to find roles that align with your specific academic program.
Does my Account Manager CPT experience help with future H-1B sponsorship?
Account Manager roles can qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B visa if the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. CPT experience in the same role strengthens your case by demonstrating direct degree-to-job alignment. Review the O*NET profile for Account Manager to understand the education and skill benchmarks USCIS evaluates during adjudication.
