CPT Compliance Jobs
Compliance jobs put F-1 CPT students inside the regulatory functions that keep financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and multinational corporations operating within the law. CPT authorization must tie directly to your degree program, so a risk management, finance, or legal studies curriculum gives your DSO the academic justification to approve it.

Does a compliance internship qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your DSO can document that the role is an integral part of your enrolled curriculum. Compliance work tied to courses in financial regulation, risk management, or business law is straightforward to justify. Roles that are purely administrative or unrelated to your degree program are harder to authorize and may be denied.
Can I do CPT at a compliance staffing agency or consulting firm?
CPT can be authorized for placements through staffing and consulting firms, but the work site and scope of duties must still align with your curriculum. Your DSO will want confirmation of the actual employer or client site where you'll work, not just the staffing agency. Some schools restrict third-party placement arrangements, so verify your program's policy first.
How do I find compliance employers that support F-1 students on CPT?
Migrate Mate lets you filter for employers with verified sponsorship and work-authorization history, which makes it easier to identify compliance teams that have hired international candidates before. Regulated industries like banking, insurance, and healthcare tend to have established HR processes for F-1 work authorization and are practical starting points.
Does full-time CPT in compliance affect my OPT eligibility?
If you use 12 or more months of full-time CPT before graduation, you lose your OPT eligibility entirely under USCIS regulations. Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours or fewer per week, does not count against OPT regardless of how long it runs. If the compliance role is full-time, track your cumulative CPT months carefully before your final semester.
What documentation does a compliance employer typically need for CPT?
Your employer will need your updated I-20 showing CPT authorization on page two, including the correct employer name, start date, and end date. Many compliance departments also request your visa stamp and I-94 record during onboarding. Some employers in regulated industries run E-Verify, which requires the same documents as a standard Form I-9 verification.
