Get Access To All JobsDistribution Operations Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Distribution Operations Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
CPT eligibility depends on whether the role is an integral part of your enrolled program, not the job title itself. Distribution Operations Manager positions typically align with supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering, and business logistics degree programs. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring the job description and your program's learning objectives to that meeting.
How do I find Distribution Operations Manager employers who are familiar with CPT?
Employers with prior DOL Labor Condition Application filings have already navigated work authorization processes for international employees and are generally more comfortable with CPT documentation. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with that filing history, so you can focus your applications on companies where the work authorization conversation is already familiar ground.
Can I work full-time as a Distribution Operations Manager on CPT?
Yes, but full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, reduces your OPT eligibility. If you accumulate 12 or more months of full-time CPT across your degree program, you forfeit your OPT entirely. Distribution operations roles often run on standard 40-hour schedules, so confirm the expected hours with your employer and weigh that against your post-graduation plans before accepting.
What documents does my employer need to authorize my CPT?
Your employer doesn't file anything with USCIS for CPT. The authorization happens entirely through your school. You'll need a written offer letter with your start date, employer name, job title, and work location. Your DSO uses that to update your I-20 with the CPT authorization. The employer then completes a standard I-9, accepting your CPT-endorsed I-20 and valid passport as documentation.
Will working as a Distribution Operations Manager on CPT help with future H-1B sponsorship?
CPT itself doesn't create an H-1B pathway, but it lets you build employer relationships and demonstrate performance in a role that typically qualifies as a specialty occupation. Distribution operations management at the managerial level generally requires a bachelor's degree, which satisfies the specialty occupation threshold. An employer who hires you on CPT and values your work has a concrete reason to sponsor your H-1B petition later.
