Job Summary:
This position is ideal for an electrical engineering student, ideally having completed their Junior year, although Sophomore completion will be considered.
Munters Corporation has recently built a new 432,000sf factory. Munters manufactures industrial dehumidifiers for the pharmaceutical, food and many other industries requiring dry conditioned air. This has resulted in the electrical layout being changed. We seek an intern who understands electrical layouts and engineering drawings, can organize the new drawings by referencing multiple data sources, can trace the cabling as needed, then mark up the drawings and then prepare revised drawings in CAD. This position would be ideal for an electrical engineer who is interested in the MEP field.

Does an Electrical Engineering Intern role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if the internship is directly tied to your electrical engineering coursework and listed as a curricular requirement or elective credit. The work must be integral to your program, not just related to your field. Your DSO will confirm eligibility based on your specific degree requirements and the job description before authorizing CPT on your I-20.
Can I do a full-time CPT internship over the summer without affecting OPT?
You can, but full-time CPT counts against your OPT eligibility. Any full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your OPT entirely. Summer internships are typically 10 to 12 weeks, so one summer usually stays under the threshold, but track cumulative hours across all CPT authorizations to avoid an unintended OPT impact.
How far in advance should I request CPT authorization for an EE internship?
Request CPT authorization at least two to four weeks before your start date, though some DSO offices require longer lead times. You'll need an offer letter specifying your start date, end date, and job duties. USCIS requires that authorization be in place before you begin working, so don't accept a start date you can't meet.
Where can I find Electrical Engineering Intern jobs that accept CPT students?
Migrate Mate lists Electrical Engineering Intern roles from employers with documented work-authorization experience, which filters out companies unfamiliar with CPT or F-1 requirements. Search by role and location, then confirm with the recruiter that the employer is enrolled in E-Verify before you proceed through the offer process.
What happens if my CPT end date passes before the internship is complete?
Working past your authorized CPT end date is an unauthorized employment violation and jeopardizes your F-1 status. If the internship extends, contact your DSO immediately to request a CPT amendment before the original end date lapses. The employer will also need to provide an updated offer letter reflecting the new end date for the DSO's records.
