CPT Analyst Intern Jobs
Analyst Intern roles in finance, consulting, and operations are among the most CPT-compatible positions available to F-1 students, because the analytical coursework in most business and data science programs directly satisfies the 'integral to curriculum' requirement. Your DSO authorizes CPT by employer and start date, so you'll need a signed offer letter before authorization begins.

Does an Analyst Intern role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the work is directly tied to your program of study. Analyst Intern positions in finance, data analytics, management consulting, or operations typically satisfy the 'integral to curriculum' requirement for students enrolled in business, economics, statistics, or information systems programs. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring your offer letter and a course-to-role alignment statement to your CPT appointment.
Can I do CPT at a startup or small firm, or only at large companies?
CPT is not restricted by employer size. Startups and small firms qualify as long as the role meets your program's curricular requirements and your DSO approves the placement. The practical consideration is E-Verify: smaller employers are less likely to be enrolled, so confirm their onboarding process before accepting an offer to avoid delays on your first day.
How do I find Analyst Intern roles where employers already understand CPT?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with Labor Condition Application filing history. Companies that have filed LCAs for analyst-level roles have already worked with international employees and are more likely to have an HR process that handles CPT documentation without requiring you to explain the authorization from scratch.
What happens if my Analyst Intern CPT start date gets pushed back by the employer?
Your current CPT authorization is tied to the original start date on your I-20. If the employer moves your start date, contact your DSO immediately to request a revised I-20 reflecting the new dates. Don't begin work until your updated CPT authorization is in place, as working before the authorized start date puts your F-1 status at risk.
Does using CPT for an Analyst Intern role affect my future OPT eligibility?
Part-time CPT, regardless of duration, does not affect OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If your Analyst Intern role is a full-time summer internship, that counts toward the 12-month threshold. Track your cumulative full-time CPT usage carefully, especially if you've held previous full-time CPT positions.
