DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS
ROLE OVERVIEW
In this role, you will join Motorola Mobility’s Finance team in downtown Chicago, supporting the International Sales Organization (ISO) and Go-To-Market business. You will analyze financial and retail data, evaluate marketing and promotional investments, and provide insights that support business decisions. You will also gain exposure to AI, automation, and financial processes within a global technology company.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Analyze customer ROI for marketing campaigns and promotions.
- Prepare weekly retail sell-through reporting and analyze pricing, promotions, and market share.
- Use financial and retail data to identify trends and provide business insights.
- Use Excel, AI, and automation tools to improve reporting and recurring Finance processes.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and automate manual processes.
- Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams on analysis and special projects.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- How Finance supports sales, marketing, pricing, and Go-To-Market decisions.
- How to evaluate ROI and the financial impact of marketing investments.
- How to turn financial and retail data into actionable business insights.
- How AI and automation can improve Finance processes and reporting.
- How Finance teams operate within Lenovo and Motorola’s global business.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, graduating on or before Summer 2028.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2; 3.5 or above preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Reside in the U.S. and not require employment sponsorship.
- Willing to work a hybrid schedule of at least three days per week at Motorola Mobility’s downtown Chicago headquarters.
PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience working with financial or business data.
- Familiarity with AI, Microsoft Copilot, automation, or generative AI tools.
- Ability to identify trends and translate data into clear business insights.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to validate data accuracy.
- Initiative, curiosity, and willingness to take ownership of projects.
- Ability to work effectively across Finance and cross-functional teams.

Yes, if the internship is directly tied to your enrolled curriculum. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program and course enrollment, not the job title alone.
Can I do a full-time Finance Intern CPT during the academic semester?
Full-time CPT during the academic year is allowed but carries a significant consequence: 12 months or more of full-time CPT eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. Part-time CPT (under 20 hours per week) does not affect OPT. Most F-1 students in finance internship programs structure semester placements as part-time to preserve OPT for post-graduation employment.
How do I find Finance Intern employers who already understand CPT?

What documents does a Finance Intern employer need for CPT hiring?
You provide your valid I-20 showing CPT authorization for that specific employer, your valid F-1 visa stamp, your passport, and your I-94 arrival record. The employer does not file anything with USCIS for CPT. The authorization lives entirely in your I-20, which your DSO issues after you present the offer details. Some employers also request an employment verification letter from your school.
Does CPT authorization change if I switch from one finance employer to another mid-semester?
Yes. CPT authorization is employer-specific. If you leave one finance internship and join a different employer, your DSO must issue a new I-20 authorizing the new employer before you begin working there. You cannot transfer CPT authorization from one company to another. Plan for at least a few business days of processing time between accepting a new offer and your actual start date.
