The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking a creative, motivated, and self-driven Student Engagement Video Intern to support our student engagement programs through compelling video content. This position will create video content supporting The Mighty Utah Student Section (MUSS) and the Student Alumni Board (SAB).
Working alongside professional staff and student board members and leaders, the Video Intern will capture, produce, and edit engaging content that connects with current students, promotes programs and events, and grows the digital presence of The MUSS and SAB. This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to build a professional video portfolio while gaining real-world experience in content creation, social media strategy, and brand storytelling. All equipment and resources required for this role's success (laptop, editing software, cameras, mics, etc.) will be provided. Applicants are required to be currently enrolled full-time student at the University of Utah.
Responsibilities
- Capture high quality content at athletics events, campus programs, and other student engagement activities.
- Produce and edit engaging videos for Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Student Engagement team, MUSS Board and Student Alumni Board to develop creative content ideas that support their program goals.
- Stay current on social media trends, editing styles, and platform best practices to keep content fresh and engaging.
- Organize, catalog, and maintain video footage and b-roll libraries.
- Attend Utah Athletics, MUSS, and SAB events and programming as directed to capture content and b-roll.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be current University of Utah student.
PREFERENCES
- Demonstrated experience filming and editing video content for social media platforms.
- Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar programs.
- Assist with content planning and contribute ideas to help increase engagement and grow social media audiences on The MUSS and SAB social media.
- Understanding of current social media trends and best practices, particularly Instagram and TikTok.
- Experience operating DSLR, mirrorless, or professional video cameras (or demonstrated ability to produce high-quality content using mobile devices).
- Interest in college athletics, campus traditions, and student engagement is strongly preferred.
- Support other special projects as assigned.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS SUMMARY
Applicants must submit a resume along with a portfolio or links to 3–5 examples of video content they have filmed and edited. Examples may include work created for social media, classes, student organizations, freelance projects, or personal creative work.

Bring the full job description to your DSO meeting, not just the title, since the daily responsibilities must map to specific learning outcomes in your program.
Can I do CPT as an Engagement Lead at a consulting firm with multiple client sites?
Yes, but your CPT authorization is tied to the employing legal entity, not the client sites where you'll work. Make sure your I-20 CPT endorsement names the correct employer of record. If the consulting firm places you at a client location, that doesn't require a new CPT authorization as long as your employment relationship with the authorized employer stays unchanged.
How do I find Engagement Lead employers who are comfortable with F-1 CPT?
Search Migrate Mate to find employers with a track record of hiring F-1 students in client-facing and account management roles. Companies already familiar with CPT timelines and DSO coordination are far more likely to accommodate the two-to-three-week authorization window between offer acceptance and start date that most CPT students need.
