Your DSO makes the final call. Roles focused on HR operations, talent acquisition, compensation analysis, or employee relations typically satisfy the curricular connection requirement at most programs.

Can I do CPT at an HR consulting firm or staffing agency?

CPT is tied to a specific employer and work location, so placement through a staffing agency creates complications. If the staffing agency is your employer of record but you work on-site at a client company, your DSO needs to authorize the staffing agency, not the client. Some schools decline to authorize CPT arrangements where the actual day-to-day supervisor is at a third-party site. Confirm your school's policy before accepting this type of placement.

How do I find HR Specialist employers who are likely to sponsor me after CPT?
