CPT Patient Service Representative Jobs
Patient Service Representative roles sit at the front desk of healthcare delivery, handling scheduling, insurance verification, and patient intake. For F-1 students on CPT, this work must directly support a healthcare administration, health informatics, or related degree program. Your DSO authorizes each CPT position individually, so secure written curriculum justification before you accept an offer.

Get Access To All JobsPatient Service Representative CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Patient Service Representative role qualify for CPT under an F-1 visa?
It can, provided your degree program has a direct curricular connection to healthcare administration, health informatics, public health, or a related field. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your program requirements and the specific duties listed in the employer's offer. Roles focused on patient intake, insurance verification, and scheduling commonly satisfy that curricular link for health-related degree programs.
Can I work as a Patient Service Representative on CPT while taking a full course load?
Yes, but part-time CPT is limited to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Patient Service Representative positions often involve rotating or evening shifts, so confirm your weekly hours with both your employer and DSO before signing an offer. Exceeding 20 hours during an active semester converts your CPT to full-time status, which can affect your OPT eligibility later.
How do I find Patient Service Representative employers who are familiar with CPT?
Search Migrate Mate for Patient Service Representative roles and look for employers with a documented history of hiring work-authorized candidates. Large health systems and federally qualified health centers tend to have established HR processes for F-1 students. Asking directly whether the employer uses E-Verify during your screening call also signals how experienced their onboarding team is with F-1 documentation.
What documents do I need to start a CPT job as a Patient Service Representative?
You need a CPT-endorsed I-20 issued by your DSO for that specific employer, your current valid passport, and your visa stamp. The employer will verify your authorization through E-Verify using your I-20 and passport. You don't receive an EAD card for CPT, so carry your CPT-authorized I-20 on your first day because it is your primary work authorization document.
Does working as a Patient Service Representative on CPT affect my future OPT eligibility?
Part-time CPT used during your program doesn't affect OPT eligibility regardless of how many semesters you use it. Full-time CPT, which is more than 20 hours per week, eliminates OPT eligibility if used for 12 months or more in total. Patient Service Representative roles are typically part-time during the academic year, but track your cumulative full-time CPT hours carefully if you take summer full-time placements.
