INTRODUCTION
IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an upbeat, customer-focused, and analytical individual to join our customer support team. At IXL, we are focused on providing the best customer service possible, ensuring our customers have success using our software applications. In this role, you will use your communication skills to effectively explain solutions to our customers (who are teachers, students, parents, and school administrators). You will also work closely with our account management, engineering, and product design teams on continued initiatives to develop and improve our products and services. This is a full-time position in our Raleigh, NC area office. This position will be in-person 5 days a week during the first 6 months of onboarding. We encourage new college graduates to apply including the class of 2026.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain a high level of product expertise
- Use your product expertise to identify customer needs and help customers with best practice use of IXL’s software
- Offer ongoing support to customers via chat, phone, and email to ensure their success with our products
- Troubleshoot issues and provide expert solutions and workarounds
- Analyze and replicate software issues to assist in the creation of bug reports
- Create and maintain product documentation for internal teams and customers
- Gather customer feedback and feature requests to share with our Technical Support team to ensure it reaches internal stakeholders
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree required
- Some experience in a customer facing role in a corporate setting is preferred
- Teaching/tutoring experience is a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently
- Energetic, positive person who works well independently and with a team
- Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized
- Quick learner who demonstrates initiative

Does a Support Associate role qualify for CPT authorization?
It depends on how the duties connect to your degree program. Support Associate positions that involve technical troubleshooting, client communication strategy, or operations analysis are easier to link to business, communications, or IT curricula. Purely administrative roles with no connection to your program's stated learning objectives are harder for a DSO to authorize. Review your program's CPT policy and the specific job description together before requesting authorization.
Can I do CPT as a Support Associate part-time while taking classes?
Yes. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, is the most common structure for F-1 students still enrolled in coursework. Your I-20 must reflect the authorized hours, and you must remain a full-time student throughout. Confirm with your DSO that the employer's schedule matches the authorized hours exactly, because discrepancies between your I-20 and your actual schedule can create compliance issues.
How do I find Support Associate jobs that are open to CPT students?

What documents does the employer need from me for CPT onboarding?
Your employer needs your current I-20 with the CPT authorization reflected on page two, including the employer name, authorized start and end dates, and whether the role is part-time or full-time. Many employers also request your F-1 visa and passport for I-9 verification. Some E-Verify-enrolled employers will run your documents through E-Verify immediately after hire, so having your updated I-20 ready before your first day prevents onboarding delays.
Does CPT for a Support Associate role affect my future OPT eligibility?
Part-time CPT, regardless of total duration, does not reduce your OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, reduces your available OPT by one month for each month used once you exceed 12 cumulative months of full-time CPT. If the Support Associate position is full-time and you plan to use OPT after graduation, track your full-time CPT hours carefully and discuss the cumulative impact with your DSO before accepting.
