Crew Leader Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a crew leader in Texas?
Most crew leaders in Texas move into the role after several years of hands-on field experience in a trade such as construction, landscaping, or utilities. Texas does not issue a statewide crew leader license, but many employers require trade-specific credentials such as a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation certificate in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC for technically specialized crews. OSHA safety certification and a valid driver's license are the credentials that most consistently accelerate hiring.
How much do crew leaders make in Texas?
Crew leaders in Texas earn a median of about $70,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,360 for the lowest 10% to over $115,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire crew leaders in Texas?
Employers hiring crew leaders in Texas right now include Brightview, The University Of Texas At Austin, and Yellowstone Landscape, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's scale of commercial construction, infrastructure maintenance, and industrial services keeps demand from large general contractors and facility management firms consistently high across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most crew leader jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most crew leader openings in Texas. Houston drives volume through its energy and industrial construction sector, Dallas through commercial development and large-scale landscaping contracts, and San Antonio through military base support, municipal infrastructure, and sustained residential growth that keeps field crews in demand year-round.
Are there remote crew leader jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Crew leader work is fundamentally on-site, requiring direct supervision of a physical team, so the role is among the least remote-compatible in the labor market. About 4% of crew leader openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those are almost exclusively administrative or project coordination duties rather than active field supervision.
How can I get hired as a crew leader in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a laborer or tradesperson with a large Texas contractor and demonstrating reliability and initiative on the job site. Companies like Turner Construction and AECOM run structured apprenticeship and advancement programs that move strong performers from general labor into lead roles. Earning an OSHA 10 certification before applying signals safety awareness and gives candidates a clear edge over others at the same experience level.
Where can I find and apply to crew leader jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to crew leader jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings by city or specialty, find roles that fit your experience, and apply directly to the ones that match.
