DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Global Controls Team, you will collaborate with highly motivated operators, engineers and technicians in the data center industry to maintain and optimize critical infrastructure systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) while developing new processes and standards that drive innovation in the controls space.
AWS data centers utilize sophisticated industrial control systems to automatically operate mechanical equipment, maintaining optimal temperature and pressure conditions throughout the facilities. These systems integrate and monitor multiple critical components, including generators, uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic and static transfer switches, air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs), and air economizers. Within this industrial control system infrastructure, the BMS serves as the primary control platform for all mechanical systems within the data center, while the EPMS functions as the primary monitoring platform for all electrical systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in mission-critical environments while contributing to the reliability and efficiency of AWS's global infrastructure.

Data Center Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data center in Indiana?
Most Indiana data center employers require a relevant technical credential, with CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, or a Data Center Certified Associate designation being the most commonly requested. A two-year degree in information technology, electronics, or a related field from a school like Ivy Tech Community College strengthens your candidacy. Indiana does not issue a state-specific license for data center technicians, so certifications and hands-on lab experience are the primary qualifiers employers screen for.
Which companies hire data centers in Indiana?
Employers hiring data centers in Indiana right now include Amazon, CBRE, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's concentration of large enterprise headquarters, cloud infrastructure operators, and regulated industries like life sciences and financial services means hiring is consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Indiana cities have the most data center jobs?
Fort Wayne, New Carlisle, and South Bend account for the highest concentration of data center openings in Indiana. Indianapolis anchors demand through its role as the state's enterprise technology and corporate headquarters hub, while surrounding communities like Greenwood and Columbus draw openings from major operators expanding their central Indiana capacity to serve regional logistics and manufacturing clients.
Are there remote data center jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Data center work is fundamentally hands-on, with most roles requiring physical presence to manage hardware, power systems, and cabling. About 10% of data center openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in monitoring, DCIM administration, or vendor coordination rather than floor operations.
How can I get hired as a data center in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an IT help desk or systems support role at a large Indiana employer, which gives you exposure to infrastructure and a foothold for an internal move into data center operations. Ivy Tech Community College runs applied networking and systems programs that feed directly into entry-level technician roles. Colocation operators and managed service providers in the Indianapolis area regularly hire associates willing to work rotating shifts, and holding a CompTIA A+ or Network+ credential before applying gives you a measurable edge over other candidates without experience.
Where can I find and apply to data center jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to data center jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
