Data Specialist Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data specialist in Florida?
Most data specialist roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, information systems, or a related field. Florida does not issue a state license specifically for data specialists, so employers focus on demonstrated skills and credentials such as Google Data Analytics Certificate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, or a Tableau Desktop Specialist certification. Building a portfolio of projects and gaining experience with Florida's dominant industries, particularly healthcare and financial services, strengthens a candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire data specialists in Florida?
Employers hiring data specialists in Florida right now include University of Miami, BNY, and LTM Limited, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's large healthcare systems, regional banks, and state agencies are among the most consistent sources of data specialist openings across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most data specialist jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Doral have the most data specialist openings in Florida. Miami's concentration of financial services firms and international trade operations, Tampa's growing technology and insurance sector, and Orlando's healthcare and hospitality analytics needs collectively drive the majority of postings, while Jacksonville adds volume through its large banking and logistics employers.
Are there remote data specialist jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. Data specialist work is largely desk-based and analytical, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 39% of data specialist openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible work for this role. Reporting, dashboard development, and data quality work are the functions most commonly offered as fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a data specialist in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior data analyst or data coordinator roles at large Florida healthcare systems and financial institutions, which regularly onboard candidates with a relevant degree and a demonstrated project portfolio. AdventHealth, Florida Blue, and regional credit unions run structured associate or rotational analyst programs suited to new graduates. Lateral moves from roles such as operations coordinator, reporting analyst, or database administrator are common, and earning a credential like Google Data Analytics Certificate or a Tableau certification gives Florida applicants a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to data specialist jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to data specialist jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly.
