Chief Executive Officer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a chief executive officer in Florida?
Reaching a chief executive officer role in Florida typically requires a combination of advanced education and years of progressively senior leadership experience. Most Florida CEOs hold at least a bachelor's degree, and an MBA or comparable graduate credential is common at major employers. Florida does not issue a state license specific to the chief executive officer title, but roles in regulated sectors such as healthcare or financial services require executives to be familiar with Florida Agency for Health Care Administration or Florida Office of Financial Regulation requirements.
Which companies hire chief executive officers in Florida?
Employers hiring chief executive officers in Florida right now include Encompass Health, Trivium, and SCA Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of large hospital systems, regional banks, insurance carriers, and hospitality companies means executive openings appear across a broad range of industries throughout the state.
Which Florida cities have the most chief executive officer jobs?
Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Kissimmee account for the most chief executive officer openings in Florida. Miami leads because of its density of financial services firms, international headquarters, and real estate companies, while Tampa's growing corporate base and Orlando's healthcare and hospitality sectors drive strong executive demand in those metros.
Are there remote chief executive officer jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. The chief executive officer role is inherently on-site in most organizations because board relationships, culture-setting, and stakeholder accountability require physical presence. About 38% of chief executive officer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be at smaller technology companies or nonprofits where distributed leadership is more accepted.
How can I get hired as a chief executive officer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic path for candidates without executive experience is building toward the role through general management or divisional director positions at mid-size Florida companies. Large Florida employers such as AdventHealth and Florida Blue run formal leadership development programs that move high-potential managers into VP and C-suite pipelines. Starting as a director of operations, vice president, or business unit lead at a Florida organization, then demonstrating P&L results, is the most consistent route into an eventual chief executive officer appointment.
