Dentist Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dentist in Minnesota?
You must earn a DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school and then obtain a license from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry by passing the National Board Dental Examinations and a clinical examination accepted by the board. Minnesota participates in the ADEX examination pathway. After licensure, dentists practicing with controlled substances must also register with the DEA and maintain current CPR certification to meet employer and regulatory requirements.
How much do dentists make in Minnesota?
Dentists in Minnesota earn a median of about $219,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $132,930 for the lowest 10% to over $226,940 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire dentists in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring dentists in Minnesota include DESORT STAFFING, Heartland Dental, and Apple Tree Dental, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's large integrated health systems and federally qualified health centers are among the most consistent sources of full-time dental openings across the state.
Which Minnesota cities have the most dentist jobs?
Saint Paul, Shakopee, and Rochester have the most dentist openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro drives the largest share of listings because of its concentration of major health systems, multispecialty group practices, and community health centers, while Rochester's volume reflects the scale of Mayo Clinic and its affiliated dental operations.
Are there remote dentist jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. Dentistry is a hands-on clinical role requiring direct patient care, so the vast majority of positions require on-site presence. About 0% of dentist openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be administrative, consulting, or dental director roles rather than patient-facing clinical positions.
How can I get hired as a dentist in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a general practice residency, which HealthPartners, Hennepin Healthcare, and several Minnesota federally qualified health centers offer to new graduates. These programs provide supervised clinical experience and often convert to full-time associate roles. Candidates without residency experience can also apply for associate dentist positions at large group practices, where new graduates work alongside senior clinicians. Holding an active Minnesota Board of Dentistry license before applying gives you a decisive edge over candidates still awaiting licensure.
Where can I find and apply to dentist jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to dentist jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings across health systems, group practices, and community health centers. Search the listings, find roles that fit your specialty and experience level, and apply directly to the ones that match.
