CLC Engineering is a growing civil and structural engineering firm specializing in physical substation design for high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards.

We are seeking a driven, organized, and solutions-oriented Project Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, Louisiana.

This is not a project-management-only position. We are looking for an engineer who can take ownership of projects while also being willing and able to jump in and perform engineering and design work when needed.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer and problem solver who enjoys managing projects, working through technical challenges, and helping the team get the job done. You should be comfortable moving between project coordination, client and schedule management, and actual engineering/design work.

What You'll Do

• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and technical deliverables
• Coordinate civil and structural engineering activities for high-voltage substations and switchyards
• Assist with physical substation design and engineering
• Perform engineering calculations, design, detailing, reviews, and other technical work as needed
• Step in and perform engineering work when project demands require it — this is an essential part of the position
• Define project requirements, assign responsibilities, and track progress
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications
• Assist leadership with preparing project quotes, estimates, and proposals
• Support project forecasting, scheduling, and resource planning
• Work with engineers, designers, clients, and leadership to resolve technical and project-related issues
• Identify potential problems and proactively develop practical solutions
• Help ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, on schedule, and to a high standard of quality

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering — Civil or Structural Engineering preferred
• 3+ years of engineering and/or project management experience preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required
• Experience with or understanding of substation, structural, or electrical utility engineering is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• A proactive “go-getter” attitude and willingness to take ownership
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team
• Proficiency with engineering, design, and visualization software
• Must be willing and able to perform hands-on engineering and design work — this is not a project-management-only position
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

This Is an In-Person Position

This position is 100% in person in Alexandria, Louisiana. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Candidates must currently be local to Alexandria or be willing to relocate to the Alexandria area. Relocation assistance may be available.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
