Position Summary
Storagenergy Technologies is seeking a Materials Engineer to develop, characterize, and integrate advanced materials for next-generation energy and electrochemical devices.
The successful candidate will investigate relationships among material composition, structure, processing, interfaces, mechanical properties, and device-level performance. This position combines experimental materials development with prototype fabrication and failure analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize material composition, microstructure, processing conditions, and interfacial properties.
- Prepare material samples, electrodes, films, membranes, coatings, and prototype components.
- Conduct materials characterization and interpret structure-property-performance relationships.
- Evaluate adhesion, porosity, conductivity, mechanical integrity, thermal stability, and environmental durability.
- Support materials selection for device components, packaging, sealing, and manufacturing processes.
- Investigate material degradation, interfacial failure, contamination, and compatibility issues.
- Work with chemical and mechanical engineers to integrate new materials into prototype devices.
- Develop material specifications, test methods, standard operating procedures, and quality-control criteria.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, invention disclosures, and project documentation.
Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant research or industrial experience preferred.
- Experience with functional materials, electrochemical materials, polymers, composites, ceramics, coatings, or interfaces is desirable.
- Familiarity with characterization techniques such as SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, TGA, DSC, porosimetry, or mechanical testing is preferred.
- Experience with sample preparation, coating, casting, curing, thermal processing, or materials failure analysis is desirable.
- Strong experimental-design, analytical, and technical-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment.
- Experience with government-funded research programs is a plus.
