Devops Lead Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops lead in Louisiana?
Most devops leads in Louisiana start with a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems, then build several years of hands-on engineering experience before stepping into a lead role. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work in devops, so advancement depends on demonstrated technical depth, particularly in cloud platforms and automation tooling, combined with a record of mentoring junior engineers and delivering infrastructure projects independently.
How much do devops leads make in Louisiana?
Devops leads in Louisiana earn a median of about $102,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,350 for the lowest 10% to over $151,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devops leads in Louisiana?
Louisiana devops lead roles are posted by Ochsner Health, Entergy, and Sargent & Lundy and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's energy, healthcare, and state government sectors are the most consistent sources of long-term devops lead hiring in the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most devops lead jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette have the most devops lead openings in Louisiana. New Orleans anchors the largest share due to its concentration of healthcare systems and technology consulting firms, while Baton Rouge benefits from state government IT contracts and Louisiana State University's research and administrative infrastructure, and Shreveport draws from regional energy and logistics operations.
Are there remote devops lead jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since devops lead work is largely cloud-based and does not require a physical presence in most organizations. About 23% of devops lead openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's natural fit for distributed teams. Pipeline management, cloud operations, and tooling oversight are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a devops lead in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior devops or systems administrator role at a Louisiana employer that runs structured rotation or mentorship programs, such as the IT departments at large health systems like Ochsner Health or state agencies under the Louisiana Division of Administration. Building a hands-on portfolio with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and a containerized deployment project on a public repository signals readiness more reliably than credentials alone. An AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for associate-level roles that lead toward a lead position.
Where can I find and apply to devops lead jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to devops lead jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings in one place. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location preference, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
