DevOps Engineer Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops engineer in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as a devops engineer, so the path runs through education and certifications rather than a licensing board. Most Louisiana employers expect at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, though candidates who hold vendor credentials from AWS, Azure, or the Linux Foundation are consistently competitive. Building a portfolio of automation and infrastructure projects strengthens applications significantly before a first role.
Which companies hire devops engineers in Louisiana?
Employers hiring devops engineers in Louisiana right now include CVS Health, Risksmith Insurance Services, and Koch, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Energy sector firms and defense contractors with Louisiana operations are especially active, given the state's concentration of critical infrastructure and government technology work.
Which Louisiana cities have the most devops engineer jobs?
New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana account for the largest share of devops engineer openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives volume through its finance, hospitality technology, and port logistics sectors, while Baton Rouge benefits from state government IT contracts and petrochemical industry infrastructure, and Shreveport draws openings from defense and telecommunications employers with regional headquarters there.
Are there remote devops engineer jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, because devops engineering is fundamentally desk-based and infrastructure work can often be managed remotely through cloud consoles and VPN. About 31% of devops engineer openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed this work can be. Roles involving federal contracts or classified systems are the most likely exceptions requiring on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a devops engineer in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a devops role from a systems administrator, IT support, or software developer position, since Louisiana employers such as Entergy and state government agencies regularly hire from those adjacent roles. Earning an entry-level cloud certification from AWS or Google and completing a public portfolio of infrastructure-as-code projects compensates for limited professional history. Associate-level IT positions within Louisiana's university hospital systems and public universities also serve as practical stepping stones into devops work.
Where can I find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
