Devops Manager Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops manager in Montana?
Devops manager is not a state-licensed role in Montana, so there is no Montana-specific board exam or registration required. The typical path is a bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, several years of hands-on devops or systems engineering work, and then a move into team leadership. Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Google Professional DevOps Engineer strengthen candidacy at Montana employers.
How much do devops managers make in Montana?
Devops managers in Montana earn a median of about $110,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,080 for the lowest 10% to over $174,190 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devops managers in Montana?
Montana devops manager roles are posted by CVS Health, Aon, and IMEG and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. State government agencies, regional healthcare networks, and technology firms with Montana operations are among the most consistent sources of devops manager openings in the state.
Which Montana cities have the most devops manager jobs?
Bozeman, Helena, and Billings post the most devops manager openings in Montana. Billings leads because it is the state's largest city and hosts corporate headquarters, healthcare systems, and energy sector technology teams, while Missoula and Helena draw openings through university IT operations and state government infrastructure work respectively.
Are there remote devops manager jobs in Montana?
Yes, and more than most fields, because devops work is inherently infrastructure-focused and cloud-based rather than tied to a physical location. About 38% of devops manager openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broad shift toward distributed engineering teams. Pipeline automation, cloud architecture review, and incident management are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a devops manager in Montana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior devops or systems administrator role first, then building toward management through demonstrated ownership of infrastructure projects. Montana healthcare networks like Billings Clinic and RiverStone Health hire associate systems engineers and IT operations analysts as stepping-stone positions. A Certified Kubernetes Administrator credential or an AWS associate-level certification gives early-career candidates a concrete edge when applying to state government IT divisions and mid-size Montana technology firms.
Where can I find and apply to devops manager jobs in Montana?
You can find and apply to devops manager jobs in Montana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Montana openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
