Devops Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops manager in Massachusetts?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a devops manager in Massachusetts. The standard path begins with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related engineering field, followed by several years in hands-on DevOps or systems engineering roles. Massachusetts employers, particularly in financial services and life sciences, value cloud certifications from AWS, Google, or Microsoft alongside a demonstrated history of leading engineering teams.
How much do devops managers make in Massachusetts?
Devops managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $182,950 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $110,970 for the lowest 10% to over $309,290 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devops managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring devops managers in Massachusetts right now include PwC, Pfizer, and Wonder, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of defense contractors, major insurers, biotechnology firms, and global financial institutions means sustained demand for devops managers with regulated-industry experience.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most devops manager jobs?
Boston, Woburn, and Bedford have the most devops manager openings in Massachusetts. Greater Boston drives the majority of demand as home to the state's largest technology campuses, financial headquarters, and academic medical centers, while suburban clusters along Route 128 in communities like Waltham and Burlington reflect the longstanding presence of major defense and software companies in those corridors.
Are there remote devops manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of devops manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on cloud infrastructure and pipeline management rather than physical hardware. Strategic and cross-team coordination responsibilities are the parts most commonly handled fully remotely, while on-call incident response roles often require at least a hybrid arrangement.
How can I get hired as a devops manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a systems administrator, cloud engineer, or site reliability engineer role into a lead or team-lead position before stepping into a full management title. Large Massachusetts technology and financial employers often run internal leadership development tracks, and institutions affiliated with the Route 128 technology corridor regularly hire senior individual contributors who then transition into people management. Building a portfolio of Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD work and earning an AWS or Azure certification gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to that first lead role.
Where can I find and apply to devops manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to devops manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Massachusetts employers and locations. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
