Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Admissions Counselor
Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes. Pair it with a credential evaluation letter so hiring managers don't delay sponsorship over a degree-length question.
Target institutions with active international hiring
Universities, community colleges, and private enrollment firms that already employ international staff understand LCA filing timelines. Search for roles that list visa sponsorship availability in the posting rather than pitching cold to departments unfamiliar with the E-3.
Verify the role meets specialty occupation standards
An Admissions Counselor position must require a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree, to qualify as a specialty occupation under E-3 rules. If a job posting says 'degree preferred,' ask HR to confirm the requirement before investing time in the application.
Confirm your employer can certify an LCA before accepting an offer
The DOL must certify your Labor Condition Application before you can apply at the consulate. Ask your prospective employer whether they've filed an LCA before, as first-time sponsors sometimes underestimate the two-week DOL certification window.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. That lets you stay focused on your onboarding rather than chasing documents across three government portals.
Time your consulate appointment around your start date
E-3 visas are issued at Australian consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. Appointment availability varies by city and season, so book as soon as your LCA is certified to avoid a gap between your offer acceptance and your first day of work.
E-3 Visa Admissions Counselor: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Admissions Counselor jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Admissions Counselor roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, so you end up screening dozens of postings manually. Migrate Mate surfaces positions by role and sponsorship willingness, saving you that step entirely.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Admissions Counselor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the employer defines the position. If the job description requires a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a directly related field, it typically meets the specialty occupation standard. Roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required, or that accept any field of study, can be harder to support. Ask the employer to confirm the degree requirement is firm before proceeding with an E-3 application.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Admissions Counselor roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has a significant structural advantage: there's no lottery. H-1B visa registrations are entered into a random selection process each spring, and many qualified applicants aren't chosen. The E-3 has an annual allocation of 10,500 visas that has never been fully used, so eligible Australians can apply at any time of year without waiting for a lottery outcome.
Can I switch Admissions Counselor employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but the new employer needs to file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally after the job change. Your status is tied to the specific employer listed on your LCA, not to the visa category itself. If you're already in the U.S., you can start with the new employer once their LCA is certified, but consult your filing service about the exact sequencing.
