Frame your portfolio for U.S. specialty occupation
Your Australian experience counts, but U.S. employers and the DOL need to see that your role requires a specific bachelor's degree. Highlight campaign strategy, client P&L ownership, and integrated media planning to distinguish your work from generalist account support.
Target agencies with established E-3 hiring
Holding companies like WPP, Omnicom, IPG, and Publicis regularly sponsor E-3 visas because their legal teams already understand the LCA process. Mid-size independent agencies often don't, so factor in how much visa education you'll need to provide during the offer stage.
Address the specialty occupation question early
Account Manager job descriptions sometimes list a degree as preferred rather than required, which can jeopardize E-3 eligibility. Ask your prospective employer to confirm the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field before the offer letter is drafted.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to streamline your LCA
The LCA must be DOL-certified before you can attend your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your employer isn't navigating the FLAG portal and prevailing wage requirements alone.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation now
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but consular officers may ask for supporting documentation. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organisation before your interview, not after.
Negotiate visa cost responsibilities during the offer
E-3 employers aren't legally required to cover your filing costs the way they are for some other visa categories. Raise consulate fees and any service costs during negotiation, before you sign, so there's no ambiguity once the LCA is submitted to the DOL.
E-3 Visa Advertising Account Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Advertising Account Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Advertising Account Manager roles where employers are open to E-3 visa sponsorship, filtering out positions that exclude visa candidates. General job boards don't surface sponsorship willingness, so you often can't tell until you're already in the interview process. Searching on Migrate Mate saves that back-and-forth.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Advertising Account Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or a closely related field. Roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required can create problems at the consulate. Ask your employer to confirm the requirement in writing before the LCA is filed with the DOL.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Advertising Account Managers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and no random selection. The H-1B visa has an 85,000 cap with a heavily oversubscribed registration process. For Australian account managers, the E-3 means a predictable timeline tied to your offer and consulate appointment, not a lottery draw in March.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as an Advertising Account Manager?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by the DOL and a new E-3 visa issued for the new employer before you start. Unlike H-1B portability, E-3 status doesn't automatically transfer. If you're already in the U.S., your new employer needs to complete the LCA process and you'll typically need to travel to a U.S. consulate to get a new visa stamp.
