Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Athletic Trainer
Verify your CAATE accreditation is recognized
Australian athletic training qualifications must map to a U.S. bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Confirm your credential aligns with CAATE-recognized standards before applying, since consular officers assess degree-to-role fit at your interview.
Target sports medicine clinics and university programs
Division I university athletic departments, NFL and NBA franchises, and hospital-based sports medicine practices are the most consistent E-3 visa sponsors for Athletic Trainers. Search by industry sector, not just job title, to surface roles with real sponsorship history.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Searching broadly wastes time on employers who've never filed an E-3. Use Migrate Mate to filter Athletic Trainer roles by employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, so every application you send is to a sponsor-ready organization.
Disclose your BOC certification status early
Most U.S. states require Board of Certification (BOC) licensure before you can practice. Tell hiring managers upfront whether you're BOC-certified or eligible to sit the exam, since sponsorship decisions often hinge on whether you can legally work from day one.
Confirm your employer files the LCA before your interview
Your employer must file and receive DOL certification of the Labor Condition Application before you can attend your consulate appointment. Delays here push back your start date, so confirm the LCA is submitted within the first week after accepting an offer.
Streamline the filing process with a dedicated service
Athletic Trainer E-3 petitions involve DOL prevailing wage compliance and state licensure documentation that many HR teams handle inconsistently. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation so nothing falls through the gaps.
E-3 Visa Athletic Trainer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Athletic Trainer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search for roles where employers already have LCA filing history for Athletic Trainer positions, since cold outreach to sponsors who've never filed before rarely succeeds. Migrate Mate lets you filter Athletic Trainer openings by verified E-3 and LCA sponsorship history, cutting your search down to employers who are genuinely set up to hire Australians on this visa.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does Athletic Trainer qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in athletic training, kinesiology, or a closely related field. Positions that accept any degree or substitute experience alone won't qualify. CAATE-accredited programs and BOC certification strengthen the specialty occupation case, and consular officers will review the job description to confirm the degree requirement is genuine and specific.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Athletic Trainer roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time of year and get a decision within weeks of your consulate appointment. The H-1B visa runs an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate and a fixed April start window. For qualified Australians, the E-3 is a direct path where the H-1B is largely a chance-based system.
Can I switch Athletic Trainer employers after arriving on an E-3?
Yes, but you can't start with the new employer until a new LCA is certified by the DOL and you've obtained a new E-3 visa or, if changing status inside the U.S., until USCIS approves an amended petition. There's no grace period that lets you begin work at the new organization before that paperwork clears, so plan for a gap of several weeks between roles.
