Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Practice Assistant
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
Practice Assistant roles typically require a degree in legal studies, business administration, or a related field. A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but confirm your specific qualification aligns with the job description before applying.
Target firms with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify law firms and professional service companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for practice support roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands the E-3 visa process.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Practice Assistant jobs filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service also handles your LCA filing and consulate paperwork end-to-end once you have an offer.
Address nonimmigrant intent before your interview
The E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will assess your ties to Australia. Prepare clear, honest answers about your intent to return after your assignment ends. Strong home-country ties strengthen your application.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file the LCA with DOL and receive certification before you can lodge your visa application. Build at least two to three weeks into your start-date negotiation to allow for LCA processing, so your consulate appointment isn't delayed.
Prepare a role-specific credential package for your interview
Consular officers reviewing Practice Assistant applications want to see that your degree and work history directly support the role. Bring transcripts, your offer letter, the certified LCA, and a brief explanation of how your qualifications map to the specific duties listed in the job description.
E-3 Visa Practice Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Practice Assistant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search Practice Assistant roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you can spend significant time applying to roles where the employer has no experience with Australian workers or the E-3 program. Migrate Mate surfaces employers who are already open to sponsorship.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Practice Assistant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as legal studies, paralegal studies, or business administration, and the employer's job description reflects that requirement. Roles where any degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to qualify. USCIS and the consular officer will both assess whether the degree requirement is genuine and specific to the role.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Practice Assistant roles?
The E-3 is considerably more accessible for Australian nationals. There's no lottery, no annual cap that fills within days, and your employer can file at any time of year. H-1B visa registrations are capped at 85,000 annually and subject to a random lottery. For a Practice Assistant role, the E-3 path from offer to consulate appointment typically takes four to six weeks rather than months of lottery uncertainty.
Can I change employers or move to a different firm while on an E-3?
Yes, but you can't simply transfer your existing visa to the new employer. Your new firm must file a fresh LCA with DOL, and you'll need a new visa stamp reflecting the updated employer before re-entering the United States. If you're already in the U.S., some attorneys recommend departing and attending a new consulate appointment in Australia rather than attempting a change of status, depending on your situation.
