Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Office Associate
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
The E-3 visa requires a bachelor's degree directly relevant to the role. A business administration, finance, or accounting degree supports most Business Office Associate applications. A general arts degree paired with unrelated experience may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for business operations roles. Prior LCA activity signals that the employer understands the E-3 sponsorship process and its administrative requirements.
Frame your Australian experience in U.S. context
Translate credentials familiar to Australian employers, such as roles at a Big Four firm or ASX-listed company, into terms U.S. hiring managers recognize. Explicitly connect your business operations background to the responsibilities listed in the job description to strengthen the specialty occupation argument.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This covers DOL certification, consulate preparation, and document review so your start date isn't delayed by filing errors.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Confirm the employer will file and certify the LCA with DOL before your consulate appointment, not just support your application in principle. Some smaller employers conflate letter-writing with full sponsorship. Get the scope of employer obligations confirmed in writing.
Account for LCA certification in your start date timeline
DOL typically certifies a Business Office Associate LCA within seven business days, but your consulate appointment wait time adds to that. Build at least four to six weeks between your accepted offer and proposed start date to avoid rescheduling pressure.
E-3 Visa Business Office Associate: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Office Associate jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface U.S. jobs with E-3 sponsorship for Australian professionals. Searching there filters roles by visa eligibility so you're not manually vetting each employer. You can focus your outreach on companies that have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor, rather than raising the visa question from scratch in every application.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Office Associate role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
It can, but the job description determines eligibility, not the title alone. The role must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, accounting, or finance. If the posting states a degree is preferred rather than required, or accepts any field of study, USCIS may not treat it as a specialty occupation. Review the job description carefully before applying.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Business Office Associate roles?
For Australian professionals, the E-3 is substantially more accessible. There is no lottery, no annual cap backlog, and the 10,500-visa annual allocation has never been fully used. The H-1B requires registration in a randomized lottery with a roughly 25 percent selection rate. Both require a specialty occupation job offer and a bachelor's degree, but the E-3 lets you start employment as soon as your consulate appointment is approved.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 in a Business Office Associate role?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new visa stamp before starting with the new employer. Your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer and position. If your visa stamp still has validity and the new role meets the specialty occupation standard, the consulate appointment process is the same as your initial application. Plan for a four to six week transition window.
