Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Registrar
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
U.S. hiring managers may not recognise Australian qualifications. Request a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service so your degree maps cleanly to a U.S. bachelor's equivalent before you apply.
Target institutions with existing E-3 filing history
Public and private universities that already employ Australian staff on E-3 visas understand the LCA process. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify institutions that have filed for Registrar or student services roles.
Search for Registrar sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer. Migrate Mate surfaces employers actively sponsoring Australian professionals, so your search starts with the right institutions.
Clarify specialty occupation status before accepting an offer
Not every Registrar posting will qualify. The role must require a bachelor's degree in a specific field like education administration or information management. Confirm this with the hiring manager before your employer files the LCA with DOL.
Request LCA filing immediately after your offer letter
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your employer needs to act promptly. A delayed LCA pushes back your consulate appointment, so set a clear timeline with HR before you resign from your current position.
Address dual intent proactively at your consulate interview
The E-3 is a non-immigrant visa, so consular officers will assess your intent to return to Australia. Have clear documentation of your ties, and prepare to explain your career rationale for relocating temporarily for this Registrar role.
E-3 Visa Registrar: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Registrar jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Registrar roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Beyond that, university human resources departments at large public and private institutions are familiar with the process. When you apply, confirm early that the role is classified as a specialty occupation requiring a specific bachelor's degree, since not every administrative posting will meet that threshold.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Registrar role qualify as a specialty occupation under the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as education administration, higher education management, or information systems. If the job description says a degree is preferred rather than required, or if any bachelor's degree field is acceptable, the role may not meet the specialty occupation standard. Reviewing the actual job posting language before you apply saves significant time.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian Registrar professionals?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian nationals and has no annual lottery, so there's no random selection risk. The H-1B visa subjects all applicants to a cap of 85,000 slots per year with a lottery that has historically had selection rates below 25 percent. For a Registrar role, the E-3 process is faster, more predictable, and can be initiated directly with a consulate appointment rather than waiting on USCIS adjudication timelines.
Can my U.S. employer start the E-3 process before I resign from my current Australian job?
Yes, and that's the recommended approach. Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL first, which typically certifies within seven business days. Once certified, you schedule your consulate interview in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. The entire process from LCA filing to visa stamp can run as quickly as three to five weeks, so you can have a confirmed visa before giving notice.
