Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in CEO
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
CEO roles must meet the E-3 visa specialty occupation standard, so document how your degree directly relates to executive strategy. A general management or MBA credential typically satisfies this, but your offer letter must spell out the academic requirement explicitly.
Target boards with Australian leadership pipelines
U.S. companies that have previously hired Australian executives are already familiar with E-3 sponsorship mechanics. Focus your outreach on organizations where the board or C-suite has international composition, as these employers rarely treat visa sponsorship as an obstacle.
Negotiate LCA filing into the offer timeline
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa interview. Build at least three weeks of LCA processing time into your start date negotiation so the certification doesn't stall your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate to handle LCA and filing
E-3 paperwork at the CEO level involves compensation benchmarking against DOL prevailing wage data, which can surprise first-time sponsors. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your employer isn't navigating this alone.
Clarify equity compensation in your visa documents
CEO packages often include equity, bonuses, and deferred compensation. The wage listed on your LCA must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location, and only base salary counts, so confirm the breakdown with your employer before filing.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent scrutiny at interview
Consular officers apply closer scrutiny to senior executives because long-term U.S. relocation raises immigrant intent questions. Have clear documentation of your ties to Australia and a well-defined scope for your U.S. role to address this directly at your interview.
E-3 Visa CEO: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find CEO jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Filtering by employers familiar with the E-3 process saves significant time at the CEO level, where sponsorship conversations happen during executive search, not after an offer. Starting your search through Migrate Mate surfaces companies already open to Australian talent.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a CEO role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, finance, or management. The specialty occupation bar is met when the role's complexity and the employer's own hiring standards demonstrate that a degree is a standard minimum, not just a preference. A vague job description that accepts any degree in any field can create problems at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a CEO role?
The E-3 is the stronger path for Australian nationals pursuing CEO positions. There is no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee, so your timeline is controlled by your employer's readiness rather than a random selection. The H-1B visa subjects even qualified candidates to a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, making it an unreliable option when an executive appointment is already in motion.
Can my E-3 visa cover a CEO role across multiple U.S. office locations?
Your LCA is tied to the specific worksite location listed at filing. If your role spans multiple offices or you relocate to a different metropolitan area, your employer may need to file a new or amended LCA with the DOL. This is a common oversight for executives with national or multi-site responsibilities, and it is worth confirming the worksite structure before your initial filing.
