E-3 Visa Child Therapist Jobs
Child Therapist roles in the U.S. qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, counseling, or a related field. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, making it far more predictable than the H-1B for Australian mental health professionals ready to work stateside.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Child Therapist
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in psychology or counseling are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying to confirm equivalency in writing.
Target employers with state licensure support
Many U.S. states require a separate clinical license to practice as a Child Therapist. Ask prospective employers whether they provide supervised hours and licensure support, as this directly affects your ability to maintain valid E-3 status long-term.
Search for E-3 sponsorship through Migrate Mate
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to find employers with active sponsorship history and handle your LCA filing and consulate preparation from a single platform.
Prioritize employers already familiar with the LCA process
The E-3 requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa interview. Hospital systems, school districts, and large behavioral health networks are more likely to have HR teams experienced with this step than private practices.
Clarify employment type before the offer stage
E-3 status requires a direct employer-employee relationship. Contract or per-diem Child Therapist arrangements through staffing agencies can complicate sponsorship eligibility, so confirm the role is a direct hire before investing time in the application process.
Time your application around state licensure portability
If you hold Australian registration, check whether the U.S. state you're targeting has a licensure compact or expedited pathway for internationally trained therapists. Filing your E-3 before you have a clear licensure pathway can create problems at consulate.

Find Child Therapist JobsChild Therapist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Child Therapist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
The most direct way is to use Migrate Mate, which surfaces Child Therapist roles from employers with E-3 sponsorship history. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, and cold applications to employers unfamiliar with the E-3 process often stall at the HR stage. Targeting employers who already know how the LCA filing works saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Child Therapist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy. Roles where a general degree in any discipline would suffice may not meet the specialty occupation standard. Your job offer letter should explicitly state the degree requirement for the specific position.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian Child Therapists?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, so there's no randomized selection process. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and requires winning a lottery before an employer can even file. For eligible Australians, the E-3 is a substantially more reliable path to U.S. employment as a Child Therapist.
Can I work for a private therapy practice on an E-3 visa?
You can work for a private practice if it can act as a sponsoring employer and complete the DOL's Labor Condition Application process. The challenge is that small practices often lack HR infrastructure to manage the filing. Confirm early that the practice owner is willing to engage with USCIS and DOL requirements before accepting an offer.
