Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
Your Australian qualifications need to map clearly to U.S. specialty occupation standards. Get a credential evaluation confirming your degree equivalent before applying, since E-3 visa petitions live or die on whether the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
Target firms with active federal or state contracts
Construction companies holding government contracts are already familiar with labor compliance requirements including DOL prevailing wage rules. That familiarity translates directly into faster, cleaner LCA filings when they sponsor your E-3.
Search verified E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Most construction roles that appear on general job boards don't disclose visa sponsorship status. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Construction Supervisor positions with confirmed E-3 sponsorship, saving you from pursuing employers who won't file.
Clarify supervisory scope before the offer stage
Construction Supervisor roles vary widely from foreman-level to senior project oversight. USCIS scrutinizes whether the position genuinely requires a degree, so confirm the job description emphasizes planning, coordination, and technical responsibility rather than primarily manual oversight.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. Construction employers are often unfamiliar with the DOL certification timeline, and having a dedicated expert manage it prevents offer-to-start delays.
E-3 Visa Construction Supervisor: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Construction Supervisor jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most construction job postings don't specify E-3 sponsorship because many employers don't know the visa exists. Migrate Mate surfaces Construction Supervisor roles from employers already set up to sponsor Australian professionals on the E-3, so you're not spending time educating hiring managers from scratch. Filter by role and location to find verified sponsoring employers.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Construction Supervisor role actually qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Construction Supervisor position qualifies when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture as a minimum for the job. Roles focused primarily on physical supervision without technical or design responsibility are harder to qualify. The job description language matters significantly, and USCIS will look at whether the degree requirement is standard across the industry for that position.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian construction professionals?
The E-3 is substantially more accessible for Construction Supervisors than the H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no random selection risk, and the 10,500-per-year cap has never been reached. You can apply year-round as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA from the DOL. The H-1B requires winning a lottery slot and then waiting for an October 1 start date, which can delay employment by up to a year even after selection.
Can I switch construction employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the new employer needs to start a fresh E-3 process, including a new LCA certified by the DOL and a new visa stamp if yours has expired or is tied to the previous employer. There's no portability provision like the H-1B's AC21 rule, so you generally can't begin work at the new employer until the new visa documentation is in place. Planning the transition timeline carefully with your new employer is essential.
